I just bought one of these heaters and my main concern is my electric bill. What wattage/setting are you running yours on? Do you run it 24 hours a day? Thanks for any info.
The wattage is automatic, it changes from OFF, LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH, depending on what temperature it needs to attain. Like say I am running the heater at 75 during the night... Then, in the morning, I up it to 85... The heater automatically goes right to the HIGH setting due to the sharp increase in the temp that I set... when it reaches the temp (85 in this case) It will turn OFF. As the temps drop the heater will automatically come back on to a LOW or MEDIUM setting to obtain the 85 setting that I have set. I run the heater 24 hours a day with a 75 degree setting at night, and 85 degrees during the day.

Average temperature of the tank area:

Daytime: Top shelf: 83 degrees Bottom Shelf: 76 degrees

Night time: Top Shelf: 73 degrees Bottom Shelf: 67 degrees

I keep more hardy sp. such as G. rosea and A.seemani on the lower shelves, and Haplopelma, Poecilotheria and slings on the upper shelves.

What are you comparing this to? What were you using before?

My oil filled heater is a Noma model, works great, but I am still unclear of the power consumtion, the instructions had no information regarding power usage.

So far I have been maintaining 85 F day and 75 F night temps without using it at all.
Last winter my bill was consistantly in the $90 range. Since I have gotten this new oil filled heater, I have shut my regular "forced air" in-wall heaters OFF. The Oil filled heater is plenty to keep my whole upstairs nice and cozy. Therefore there is no reason to use my regular home heaters.

I also NEVER turn any heat on downstairs, where the bedrooms are, (It's like an ice box!) But, I prefer to sleep in the cold, with lots of blankets instead.

This winter (so far) my bill has been in the $60-70 range. Due in part, I believe, because of the features that this oil filled heater has. (not being on all the time, and once it warms up... the oil remains warm therefore keeping a more consistant heat source)

Hope this helps!
