It would be nice to see some more adult males of P. cancerides, what with the (on the boards) recently presented various versions.

Anywhoo:
Phormictopus atrichomatus
(trying to get the camera to focus , and in the right places, with this little sling running round and around in its little container with very white walls left Vys somewhat vexed) :

This is a picture of it that my brother took. (It was posted in its own thread here, but didn't get much attention):

Can't wait to see what he looks like when he matures.

Thanks for looking, Gabe - Vogelspinnen

Another nice one and on my new "must have list". Does anyone know where slings of that species are available?

An underappreciated species (and genus for that matter)...

Here are a couple of more photos:

Only humans are nasty; tarantulas and other animals are defensive in order to protect themselves ;)

In my experience, this species is less defensive than the more commonly kept P. cancerides. As for maximum size, I believe it reaches 4-5 inches - smaller than P. cancerides.

Cheers, Michael

P. platus...

Yeah, I noticed that too. This phormictopus is more laid back than the cancerides or atrichromatus I've had in the recent past.
