@flyerguy ...Do you know what other species of Phormictopus are in your area?

Are they all P.cancerides, or do you think there might be other regional variations that overlap...or might be in nearby areas...?

Seriously...this genus is such a wreck, you could be an awesome onsite source of information....as you collect these slings, take pictures of them in their natural environment.

If you come across any adults....take pictures and see if you can safely include a scale reference, like a ruler or a coin of known dimensions in the image. You could possibly have several types, or species in your area, or in different terrain types...in your area.

And...YOU LIVE THERE....

I’ve been looking for a female P. Cancerides to add to the collection, but they’re hard to find right now here in the U.S.

Lol yeah I guess so! It’s just that the online dealers I know of don’t have any right now. At least not a sexed female.

Whoa not sure what that vegetation is in there but I’d take that out immediately and put some substrate in there. If you have access to coconut fiber do that.

use coco fiber and a pinch of moss instead of that chunk of plant? you have in the deli cup then it will burrow and settle in to its new home

I would love to just walk around down there and see all the flora and fauna. I cannot imagine being able to go down the road and just pick up Phormictopus species...at the local gas station. I would be exploring everywhere looking for little pockets of indigenous populations.
