@flyerguy ...Do you know what other species of Phormictopus are in your area?
Are they all P.cancerides, or do you think there might be other regional variations that overlap...or might be in nearby areas...?
Seriously...this genus is such a wreck, you could be an awesome onsite source of information....as you collect these slings, take pictures of them in their natural environment.
If you come across any adults....take pictures and see if you can safely include a scale reference, like a ruler or a coin of known dimensions in the image. You could possibly have several types, or species in your area, or in different terrain types...in your area.
And...YOU LIVE THERE....
