found a baby tarantula roaming around at a gas station and decided to keep it. ive fed it 3 roaches already and i dont know how to give it water... the little guy or gal seems comfortable in its enclosing but i really dont know i dont want him to die on me...

Not a lot info here to go on. If the Tarantula is small, a bottle cap full of water will work. As the spider grows, you can use larger and larger bottle caps, or just use 3.5 oz soufflé cups, pressed far enough into the substrate so the spider will have access.

Show us an image of the spider and the enclosure...

Phormictopus cancerides?... interesting assumption.

Post pics ! For slings I use lids from chapstick/lip balm cut down , and then other small vessels as the spider grows . You can also wet some moss if the spider is really small

Here are a few of my P.cancerides
Slings . As you probably know , they're a deep blueish black and rather leggy when small. Mine have very fine whiteish hairs and some longer white hairs on abdomen

Makes me want to live in some tropical place. I wouldn't be fat anymore. I would be running around catching stuff all day including malaria

at this time of the year in the dominican republic these little guys are everywhere, you just have to be in the right place at the right time. i wasnt really looking for any T i was actually just putting air in my tire and i noticed the little guy near my tire. he was beautiful, hair all over his body moving all slow and i couldnt resist i took him with me. my first T i ever had is the one in the picture i set as my profile pic, i found him crossing the street when i was leaving a mountainous area of my country i threw i shirt on top of him and stuffed him in a back pack until i found a plastic container for him. he turned out to be a male and only lived about four months with me and suddenly died out of nowhere. im so happy i found this little guy because i really look forward to watching him grow.

i have good news and bad news. bad news is yesterday my little friend escaped out of the enclosure i put him in. the good news is i went back to the same gas station and succesfully hunted down and caught another sling. thank god because i hardly slept thinkin about how the first one ecaped. this time i made a new enclosure to ensure that the new guy doesnt escape i made the holes smaller this time.

Man what a life, if only is was that easy, and not to mention that free to just run out for another Tarantula. Sorry yours escaped but how cool it is to just go pick up another from the same location.

yeah i know right. i figured that if i found 1 than his brothers or sisters must be roaming around in the same area so i went back and started searching thank god i was able to find another one because i was really sad man couldnt sleep well i was really looking forward to watching him grow, but now i got another 1 and ill do my best to make sure this one doesnt escape on me. i plan on heading over there after work to see if i find another one that way i could raise two.

Yeah I feel you I would be sad if one of my Tarantulas escaped. But luckily you were able to find another one so easily! And I was just going to say if it was me I might another one as well, it doesn’t sound like it would be harmful to populations by collecting a few.
