I don't think it's so much 'disturbing' or 'shocking' as it is hypocritical. Have you by chance read the "Bill to Ban Our Hobby" thread? Pitbulllady made an excruciatingly honest point in that if we can't accept and appreciate other animals,creatures, life forms besides the ones WE personally like, you're part of the problem as well.

I realize this is kind of a joking thread but seriously, do you realize how hypocritical and un-necessary it is to justify the demise or harm upon another animal because someone doesn't agree with you on your choice of pet?

Amen HMS, well said. As a vet tech by training, I find this thread offensive, because I am the one who has to help take care of these other animals when they are abused. Happens more often that you all think!

As for as I am concerned (and I'm pretty concerned since I started this thread) this IS A JOKE THREAD that has NO importance in the world of T keepers. I hereby apologize if that has not been made clear enough. I believe I can say for everyone who has posted on this thread that we ARE NOT out to hurt, kill, or abuse animals. As far as our jokes being hypocritical, YOU'RE DARN RIGHT THEY ARE!!! that's the whole reason they're funny and if they offend anyone, I'm sorry but this is pure nonsense and if you can't handle a joke, get out of the Ha Ha Hut...

i thought it was a fun thread, and i love animals and have the unique ability (apparently) to know the difference between fun in talking about something and reality and doing something. If someone does something with ..oh lets say a gerbil, then that person is responsible for their actions, not me.

Amen. Some people must simply learn to take a joke. I like to consider myself an animal lover and I would never hurt one of God's innocent creatures, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to joke about it!!! and if I do make joks, I certainly won't carry them out!!!

I've only had something like that happen once. A friend of a friend was brought to my house, at the time I was finishing something on my computer. I brought them into the room, but I needed to finish what I was doing, so the comp was still on and flashing pictures of our snakes and spiders, plus an occasional cat or dog.
This woman started shrieking," OMG what are those horrible things? You don't have any HERE, do you? If I saw one of those things I'd kill it!!"
I got up, walked over to her, took her arm and escorted her out of my house. I explained to her on the way, "This is very simple, if you injure my children, I will injure yours." She looked confused.
Then she said "Are you threatening my children?"
"You threatened mine, and in my own home, no less."
"You wouldn't......"
I smiled and stared her right in the eyes, "Try me."
She ran down my driveway into her car and slammed the door. My friend followed, extremely embarassed, and apologized.
I found out later that this lady still tells everyone that I keep deadly animals and I threaten to kill people with them all of the time.
I still get giggles out of it.
