My wife's friend got forbidden by her husband to come to our house since she got first pregnant... some people told my wife to get rid of my spiders, and they are even more shocked when they tell them that some actualy belong to her!

It's a trip how people act when you talk about your T's.The most common sentence I get is about people stepping on them.Step on mt tarantula,you'll have less teeth The problem with non tarantula keepers is no education on T's.I'm really tired of hearing about how people would kill my tarantulas.What if I killed their dog??;P

Sometimes I give lectures to friends and others on my Ts. Some of the ones that I trust, I'll let handle my rosie. It hurts when they break my trust and say "If it bites me, I'll throw it"

That's when I promptly retrieve my T and kindly tell them to GTFO of my house

i think it's terrible that some people can't just see that we care for our pets the same way they care for theirs. yeah, they're spiders. so what? i've never seen or heard of a tarantula attacking a child, ruining furniture or masturbating in public but people still regard dogs as being more legitimate pets than them.

I never saw a dog do that in public...I've seen them looking for some help with situation, Thats mainly for primates.

I don't think it's so much 'disturbing' or 'shocking' as it is hypocritical. Have you by chance read the "Bill to Ban Our Hobby" thread? Pitbulllady made an excruciatingly honest point in that if we can't accept and appreciate other animals,creatures, life forms besides the ones WE personally like, you're part of the problem as well.

I realize this is kind of a joking thread but seriously, do you realize how hypocritical and un-necessary it is to justify the demise or harm upon another animal because someone doesn't agree with you on your choice of pet?
