I think Bertani would have something to say about being around in the Victorian era...

Hi Ana,

According to Bertani (2008), P. nigricolor is from Colombia and Brazil now... and who knows where else!! hehe

Cheers,
Pato
"YAWN" Ok,perhaps i should just leave it till Bernd reads this?? maybe he is away on a field trip again?? But he is the new Pampho king,Bertani and Mellano described these spiders in the Victorian ages!!! Quite a few mistakes were probably made.
Neil
so 2008 was the Victorian age?

Congrats on the sac, Fritz!
Really an great archeivement. Hope for the bunch of strong good slings!

As for the great B. Bischoff and his expert knowledge about the related genus here we go.
So far as it known to my very poor near to absence knowledge in theraphosid spiders the only great point so we have out from the pen of this man is the old article published in the year 1998 in DeArGe Mitteilungen 3(4): 6-7.
Here you can carefully read it: http://www.dearge.de/arachne/doc/1998_04_3.pdf
To my really crap knowledge of german language it contains no any very valid or important taxonomical information concerning identification of different species but just so called is only "hobby article"...
So, I wonder why we can't see any taxonomic or at least solid based "hobby taxonomy" article to help people to identify their spiders? Where I should find any true info other than this about his expert knowledge on Pamphobeteus spp?

Hi there.i have just witnessed the most amazing thing to happen in the 12 years i have been keeping tarantulas.
I have just caught my female P.fortis laying her eggs ;) I never grow tired of keeping these wonderfull animals, this to me is a privalidge not many people will ever witness that keep spiders. She was totally oblivious to me watching her, didnt mind me being there at all.I only wish i had my camcorder, managed to grab a few pics, sorry if the quality isnt great,im still getting to grips with my new camera.Notice how shrivelled her abdomen is in some of the pics, from pushing out the eggs :) When i left her to it,she was just webbing over the top of her eggs readying them for wrapping...i am one lucky bloke to have seen this ;)

cheers...Neil

A voracious eater. Will probably wait a few more molts before I can breed her. :)

Pamphobeteus antinous Female

~To give an idea of her size, the bottom of the holding container she is in is 10". With a healthy stretch I believe she could span the container.
