Finally got a decent picture after I changed the hide. I am new to this species , firstly does he black abdomen signify how close he/she is to moult as they are currently not eating either. Secondly I am leaning towards female due to trh copper colour but I'm not sure if males display the same as sub adults. Any advice appreciated

yes, it does.
it doesn't give you an exact timeframe, but probably within a month, likely sooner rather than later.

make sure it has water to drink

no idea about the sex, dorsal sexing basically never works

just sex the exuvia once it molted, only way to be certain anyway

That's a very dark abdomen, moult is on it's way. Of course not eating is a sign of pre-moult too. Lovely T you have.

Thank you - to my surprise they are all ready on their back moulting! Hopefully be done in the morning!

Yes - but that’s all it tells you, nothing about when!!!!
Lovely surprise they are already on their back for the moult! Hopefully be done by the morning!

Woah, she still has a giant abdomen. Really lovely tarantula.

monitor your feedings, if you don’t want to have an overweight tarantula.

She hasn't eaten yet in my care, pretty much has jsit hidden for a few weeks and now molted. most of my other Ts don't eat for months so have never really had a proper schedule as such. Would would you suggest?

no schedule. Make it work with your time. If she is full/fat, she might had have enough. if you feed small, you can do it more then once a week. If you feed big, really not often. Shes already so fat.

you can try feeding her a small medium prey food when her fangs are darkened. If she takes it good. If she doesnt, try a week later.

my mature 4+inch g pulchripes, i would feed one large cricket a week or two weeks, and that was too much. Shes been hibernating since autumn.

she just started showing her legs.

i feed my tarantulas like this now: when they are in hiding, i don’t feed. when they come out, show their legs, i feed.

all my tarantulas are establiahed in their homes. When they start wandering, its because they are hunting.

when my tarantulas have an abdomen over 1.5 their carapace size, i barely ever feed.

i have no clue what your current experience with tarantulas is. So what i would tell you, would differ, depending on that. I wont share more if you already know.
