there is a bunch of nice pictures, and info, on the forum about this tank and the one for his Cyriopagopus sp. "blue".. Also how he made them

Good luck :)
I have heard that the female of C. schioedtei is very angry while mating and often takes a leg or two.. didnt you notise this?
And also while the nice tank is talked about again ;) do you feel that its harder to take care of the spider in this tank? and have you made a peek hole in to the ... hole hehe?

Wow, Michael, once again have to bow down to you after seeing that tank. I thought I had gotten used to how beautiful it was and then I saw these recent photos with our two spiders in them. Stunning, I think that is the best way to describe these photos. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Thank you everyone. :D As Bearo said there are more pictures and info in the enclosure thread in tarantula pictures.

Bearo,
Thanks again. I did not notice any signs of aggression from her. She was very willing to mate and the speed at which she came out of her hole did frighten the male. He turned around, but he then turned right back and proceeded to finish the job. She kept tapping the whole time and he would tap right back. It was interesting, she would use her first 2 sets of legs to tap, while he tapped with his palps but also seemed to do body slam by raising up and slamming his whole body down. All in all she was very eager to mate.
I actually feel it is easier to take care of her in this tank. It is easier to maintain humidity due to the bedding, moss and plants. She has made her own tube in the cork tube I provided so I always know where she is. She takes the food bolus out on her own and I can remove it very easliy. Also on the back of the tank there is an uncoated area of glass where her tube is so I can peek in on her. It has a black piece of paper on it all the time so she dfoes not web over the glass. I also have an entrance hole for me on the front of the cork in her tank so I can get to her if needed. That whole is covered by the substrate.

Zack,
Thanks and I am keeping my fingers crossed too.

Thanks,
Mike

That set up is breathtaking every time I see it. I plan on using your method to design an enclosure for either my Tapinauchenius purpureus or Cyriopagopus schioedtei (which ever matures sooner).

Goliath>> Ok thats intresting.. I have not had the changs to mat this spec yet.. but I will ;)
All I have heard is that the females often is more likly to kill the male then let him do his thing..
I'm gonna read all the info you have writen about this tank because I'm really happy that someone is doing this much for a spider and dont just put them in a petbox somewhere.. I have already started with my own alitle today even :p hehe
how do you mean with the black peice of paper? do you have it on the outside and she dosnt web there? :?

Have you tried to make a terrarium for dartfrogs also?

RVS,
which ever matures first will definitely like the tank and make the other one jealous.:D

Midnightrdr456,
Thanks for the compliment, though not an artist, just a physicist.

Bearo,
I had a male of this species mature before this female was ready to breed and he went to Eric (Goterps). He said that the male cohabitated with the female for 7+ weeks.
Thanks again for the compliments, good luck with your tank too, if you have any questions while constructing it just PM me. The black paper is on the outside of the tank, so no light can get in but I can peel it back and take a peek inside every once in a while. With it being dark she really does not want to web the inside of the glass as much.
One of my good friends breeds dart frogs and builds these tanks for his frogs too. He puts water pumps and all in the tanks. I don't put the waterfalls and pumps in due to the constant vibration from the pumps. I am worried that the constant vibration will stress out the T.

common spider,
Thanks, not all the tanks are like that, most are commen tanks with natural decorations. As my females mature I am housing them in these type tanks.

demonhunter,
Thanks. Pictures and info on the tanks can be found here;

Well, she did a lot of webbing this weekend and I wake up to find what I expected this morning. Not a great picture but an eggsac none the less.
