Bit of solace at least you have a very kind and lovely (European) First Lady. I like Lady Melania... seems to me like a Psalmopoeus irminia: so beautiful, yet so reclused.

Yes, yes indeed... Lady Melania is a P.irminia :)
So lovely, so robot.

Makes me sad to think of Ts in movies being mistreated or dying after their hard acting work.

Here's an article about Patty, the T that was in Breaking Bad. Apparently she's had an okay post-acting life. https://www.newscastic.com/news/breaking-bad-tarantula-finds-home-at-clarks-pet-emporium-1045662/
what an embarrassment....fully trained? what a joke...teaching others that ts can be trained.....ridicolous. And then theres the arboreal enclosure...a solid 10× more height than there should be.... perfect example of why pet stores are horrific places for t info....even if the owner claims to be a knowledgeable hobbyist.

I bet its damp and frequently misted with several crickets dead and alive hidden in that enclosure, too.

The home Alone Spider placed on his face was not Aphonopelma, Ventral Thorax is very dark... I'm thinking most likely Ephebopus murinus... or possibly N chromatus. Not the species I'd choose for that scene, but neither would A seemanni.
...have you ever seen either of those tarantulas? Because it sounds like you haven't seen either of those tarantulas. N. chromatus would have a lighter carapace and long red setae on the abdomen-- for starters. E. murinus have two stripes in a V pattern only on the first leg segment of the front four legs, and one single stripe on the subsequent leg segments. Their carapace is also lighter in color than their abdomen.

So you can brush up on your tarantula identification: E. murinus & N. chromatus.

But as for the initial topic, I actually saw a really cheesy horror movie just the other month and they actually had some sort of asian terrestrial in it. I was floored when I saw it, I believe it was actually being held in the scene. I can't recall precisely because they had a number of tarantulas in the movie, I was actually impressed with the variety of Ts but less than impressed with the plot-line and the way they incorporated them into the film.

Haha. It is a very odd article, isn't it.
