Think mine's coming up for a moult very soon too. Judging by your picture Eddy, I should definitely be able to sex it at this size :)

Do you attach the camera directly to the scope, or take the photo through the eyepiece? I have a 15x to 45x trinocular zoom scope here, but I seem to get better pictures through the eyepiece ports than on the trinocular port for some reason.

Monocentropus balfouri 2 inch fresh molted female.:)

Later, Tom
Ok... now I am confused. I was getting the impression that males were primarily blue and females mainly brown. Tom's female is a beautiful blue.

Can any of you that have them describe their requirements? Is anyone selling them in the US?

I think I like this blue spider better than the other one I thought I needed so badly.

Another genus I'd not heard of!
Nice spiders!
Monocentropus, hmm single-centre-foot!
Hi

A long time haven t been post there :(
I think name says single-centre-furrow. This species have only one big furrow on carapax. This run from eyes to foeva.
Have nice day :)

Hi,

R. I. Pocock did not say why Monocentropus.

The name balfouri cames fromt he man who discovered this species, Sir Isaac Bayley Balfour.

Hi,
I've tried to locate some single spine on the foot of this species, but found nothing. only single tarsal claw on palps, but nothing else..
Maybe he really meant the marking on carapace and misspelled it :)

edit: well, i'm no taxonomist at all, so i was not supposed to find anything, but at least i've tried :)
