Three water dishes, and she won't use any!

Dewey, Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens. I call this one "Resistance is futile"

She already had 3 crickets today but attacked the water anyway (turns out I'm starving my tarantulas, I sure do have big shoes to fill 😍)

My big Amazonius Germani girl came out for a long drink this morning. Hopefully it's a sign she's getting ready to molt again. 20240215_094514.jpg

What's been your experience with that species?
I really enjoy her. I've had her since she was a tiny sling. She has had a pretty quick growth rate, gone from about 0.5" to around 5"DLS in under two years. Strong appetite, very fast, spends a fair bit of time sitting out visible when she's not holed up in premolt. I would compare to a psalmopoeus in growth rate, appetite and temperament. I find her colors quite gorgeous as well, my partner calls her the "orangutan spider". I think they are severely underrated in the hobby.

A. avicularia getting what I think is her first drink ever with me! Right after her first meal with me, too! Little gymnast, doing a headstand.
