Which sexing sticky are you referring to? There are several resources I have seen. The "beginner" sticky points to a few howtos, but none of them is what I would call a dedicated sexing sticky on arachnoboards. If we (and by that I mean you) do a thread on sexing, it should just be pictures and accompanying descriptions, no comments by people outside the know.

Here's a pretty good quality picture of the new river I mentioned. Since it's young (but I think still sexable) it could be used for a demonstration here and I think be more effective than pictures of T's that are CLEARLY one way or the other. I know I would find a clear discussion of it enlightening.

Upon (brief) review of the stickys, I guess we don't really have a sticky on this site really dedicated to sexing. We've got some external links to other sites in the beginner info, but nothing that is truly comprehensive.

If things calm down for me after my mid terms are over, I'll see what I can do about putting something together and submitting it to the mods. If anyone has photos they'd like to contribute, or if they'd like to take the reins due to impatience, let me know.

PS, I am by no means claiming to be an expert. I'd like to think that I've got a fair bit of experience thus far, but I'm also not one of the big time breeders on here. I've got my small collection (though it keeps growing), and I've done a little breeding. I have garnered a lot of info however, and have been putting it to good use. I'll try to put something together after mid terms.

Is it really that important folks. Maybe I am way wrong but it is probably true to say that most contributors to this thread are not going to breed their T anyway!

It's not life or death important, no. And you can always wait for a molt and get the sex that way, but people want to know the dang sex of their tarantula so they know how long to expect it to live, how to price it if they are selling it, etc.

But it's a very frequent question on the boards. Having an excellent howto so people can figure it out themselves would help that a lot.

Certainly I think it's important enough to have a good thread on sexing. Even a well-written sticky.

Hey Ryan, when you are bored at work or something, can you tell us how you did that? Maybe draw on the photos?
