haha..i know right. oh well i belive im correct in thinking both are female. i have only been wrong with one T so far. out of probly 50 or so ive vent sexed he irminia has been the hardest!

when they molt again(regalis should be soon) i will verify it with a molt if i can and update this thread. the irminia molted about a month ago so it will be awhile on it.

and hey you can always test your sexing skills in my latest "sex me" thread

ok so for all of those who said the P. regalis was and is male then how come my p. ornata(male) looks nothing like my regalis and there both the same size(3.5) inches here is a pic of the mle ornata....looks totally diffrent

They're really the same size? Judging by the amount of hair over the vent, I was assuming it was a sling.

yes...both are 3.5 inches....the male ornata just molted a few days ago(during shipping when i got him) and the regalis is due soon(she will bebigger than him next molt(if its a she))

either way, what i dont understand, is this has become a guessing thread, ometime i wonder if people tend to just follow the "trend" guesses in these threads...

when truth be told, the regalislooks female to me..compare her to kyles male(above) and then compare her to my male ornata(same size) and there nothing alike.

now im not going to lie, i dont not know what the heck the irminia is..but it looks female now. when 1 molt ago i thought it was male...

sorry pit but that picture really does nothing for sexing....i need a ventral shot of the furrow region to see what a male or female truely looks like.

sure did....the irminia likes to eat hers...and the regalis likes to rip them apart and use them for web decor...not more i can do...

i sex all my spiders ventrally first. just to see how good at it i am when i do get to review a molt under the microscope. these have just been the most difficult due to the lack of a molt to do that with:rolleyes:

also redneck, i belive if im not mistaken your avic may be female...hard to tell from the pic you sent me but it looked it to me.

Oh well I think I might have to hold on to her then.. Once I can get a molt from her or him I will take a picture of it and see what folks think.. I cant really get a better closer shot of her or him since its got itself a nice tube web and stays in there and I dont know how to pinch grab sooo I think I am going to have to wait for the molt.. I know how to pinch grab I just dont want to grab to hard and hurt the little one and I dont want to grab too loose and lose it either..

Not sure whether you're serious or being a wise ass... I mean the little spot at the tip of the arrow that bisects the furrow. Do I also have to spell out what I think it could be? Thought it was just obvious enough that I wouldn't have to also circle it.
Granted it's a grainy photo and could be just a reflection or whatever. To declare it sexed as 100% anything based on that pic is pushing it to say the least...

thanks joe, but that still didnt/doesnt clarify much to me. i love pokies, but hate sexing them!:eek:

makes my correct ventral sexing streak a waste of time...

either way, like said above i am going to have to have a molt. period. its going to be hard to get it from s/he but maybe i will get to this time.
