My guess is that your P. regalis is male.....not totally sure, though.

I'm about 90% certain that your P. irminia male.

ok...soo ive had difficulty with the p. irminia before (and was and is the only one i cannot get right) so far it has eaten ever molt it has shed...which irritates me to no end.

the p. regalis though appears female to me..as 1. the dorsal marking on the abdomen is faded quite a bit, along with no noticable "nitch" in the furrow. now im by far an expert pokie sexer, but to me that screams female.

i will go and get a better picture of the irminia in a second. this thing is freaking mean! and faster that snot. so give me a few min. to get another as this will be fun!

Still goin' with female on both of those. Also, at that size the folio pattern doesn't matter.

now personally both are screaming female..i see no "nitch" in ther furrow in either spider...

now i recently made a thread called "in denial....bad.." and it featured a male ornata..the ep. fussila(spelling) was extremely noticable in that spider...which i see no resemblance with the regalis which has me leaning female instead of male. also on the male the dorsal pattern is exremely defined and not faded as appears with my regalis.

but i do want to ask rob, what makes you think its a male? im very curious as to what you see, because this seems to be the one spider in my collection i cannot seem to sex!

As a comparison, here is a male regalis. I am 100% positive that you have a female.

Regalis = male
Irminia = female
This was my initial reaction too, although most Poecilotheria are much easier to sex. I'm guessing the difficulty is due to his small size.

I can't get a pic, but I have a male irminia that's about 1.5-2". There is a pretty obvious dot on him.
