To summarize:

You can't compare a human to a tarantula. From a taxonomy standpoint, the most we have in common is Kingdom...

You know, to be absolutely honest with you, it is a huge relieve for me to read your posts ,Joe.

You guys are treating your tarantulas like you would treat a dog.
Giving them objects to "play".
Fantastic.

My last post in this thread will be to say...

No where did I call it "playing" with the ball.
I said environmental stimulation is natural, and therefor providing it in captivity isn't going to do the tarantula any additional harm.

I agree to disagree, because some people will never see the other's person perspective and that's fine.

Teal, the thing is that the fact of giving a tarantula a plastic ball to watch her how she rolls it around, guard it and stress over it...It might be ok from anothers people perspective, I just dont see the point whatsoever.

As a form of entertainment, I don't see the point in it either. I wouldn't give a T a ball just to watch them roll it around to amuse me.

I don't see how a T would think a ping pong ball is an egg sac, unless they just had an egg sac taken from them. Would a T not in this situation, even care about a ball?

We look at water bowls and fake plants as normal objects for a T enclosure... but they are foreign when the T first encounters them - and no one thinks that is wrong.
So what is wrong with providing other objects for the T to first encounter?

You know what point I don't see..............?

Frans!

And there is No reason to "debate" with a Hobbyist such as yourself. "Peta"

Waste of time.....If you Don't consider Others feelings and opinions.......

.....Like I said: I respect others opinions, till I find they Don't respect Mine....

Or Others....who are tryin' to be reasonable.

I don't see how everyone on this thread are being "Civil" X............Because "some" are Not.

A Ping-Pong ball people..............A PING-PONG BALL!.......And when I was in jail X......yes, A ping-pong ball was a stress-releaver for me......Does that make it a stress-releaver for T ?..........But it certainly does Not cause the T mental OR physical harm.............Stimilation if anything, is OBVIOUS to "Most"

We Don't NEED to be a Tarantula to Know that! Or validation;P
Nor do we need to have 2000-5000 posts to have an opinion be respected.

Fair points: B-Drunk, Teal, Moltar.....as Usual, I for one, appreciate those that are Friendly and Fair.

Let me explain again....I will go a bit slower this time for you.
Keeping any animal in a glass tank.......me,you,spider......anything except maybe a fish but that is open to debate is stressful.
Now, I accept I may be wrong on this, but I would question if a tarantula even realises it's in a glass tank. I've seen a few video's and behaviours that make me wonder, but otherwise I by far and large think most of them are clueless to the fact.
