When mine was that size it seemed to only scavenge..wouldnt hunt until about 1" 1.5"...i would crush the head on a small cricket and within 5 minutes it would drag it into its burrow

This is not true. I have fed first instar L parahybana newly hatched crickets. They will hunt. No doubt about it

My1/2" sling, Lasiodora parahybana, was more of a scavenger as well. Didn't matter what size the prey item was...or what the prey item was...if it moved, the sling wouldn't touch it. For the longest time it would only eat pre-killed items, loved small pre-killed crickets mostly.

The sling has moulted twice since I first got it and after this last moult I re-housed it into a 4"X4"X4" AMAC enclosure.

It's now started hunting.

It's buried itself ...again...so I'm not sure how big it is, currently. A couple weeks ago, the sling stuffed substrate into the opening of its burrow. Yesterday though I noticed that it had opened up a tiny little doorway along the enclosure edge. I could look into the burrow, just a bit through the sides of the enclosure.

I dropped a medium sized B. lateralis into the opening and I could see a flurry of legs, through the side of the enclosure...then the roach was gone.

Who knows...maybe someday I'll get to see that little L.P. again. :bag:

I do diced mealworms and super worms for most of mine, AND all of my slings including 2 LPs take live isopods, the powder orange ones I currently can't look up their scientific name. Scratch that my theraphosa stirmi sling actually won't touch the isopods for some reason

Key word was "mine".....not talking about everyone else
I have one a bit like that too! Had it since 1cm and now between 3-4cm. Is a good eater but not a natural born killer like my Nhandu chromatus or T. albopilosum slings. For a start, it will only feed every 7-10 days and fasted for 3 weeks before it last moulted. My temps are between 22-25c.

It'll take live prey as long as it's small but my albo's, heck even my hamorri will take on a lot bigger prey than this wimp!
