Care to expand on your disagree @jrh3 ? You don’t think unlabeled species can lead to wrong guesses and mislabeled species?

Mystery boxes are fine. Unlabeled species is asking for an issue somewhere along the way.

Ok people. Go to the website and do the research yourself. It is an option for experienced keepers to get sent Ts without them being labeled to increase the surprise I guess...no clue. I’m sure you can ask the vendor what they are as well if you can’t figure it out. The seller doesn’t just send the Ts this way.

Let’s have fun with this. I think it’s a great idea and can potentially have a great end result. Instead of assuming the seller is going to offload extra common not wanted Ts, why don’t we wait and see?? Why try and ruin something you have no idea or experience with?

This thread has taken a turn for the worse because people want to bash something for no reason. Your opinion is your opinion. If you have no experience with this particular vendors mystery boxes, then keep your opinion to yourself. If you don’t like mystery boxes then don’t buy one. The end!

Here’s the link for all of you naysayers...

Sure, I will gladly explain. Have you been to the site? If not you have misspoken. Know what your talking about. This option is for experienced only, says it plain as day. It is an OPTION, not mandatory so yeah I disagree with your comment. Maybe I want to get a box without labels watch them grow a bit, try to guess them, then contact vendor ask what species they are to see if I got them right. This tread is not a debate on what you agree with or disagree with, it is simply me ordering a mystery box and posting how awesome it is when I open it and see what all is in it.

Cheers!!

I did that before I posted anything in this thread.

I can't wait to find out what species are going to be sent! Living vicariously through you, OP.

Silencing people is not what we do here. This is a discussion forum, not your personal site. You've had an account here for a month, new guy. I suggest you never tell people who have been here for years, many of whom support this site with money and have far more experience than you do to be silent again.

Some people are being skeptical of this idea, and for good reason. If you don't know what animal you have, a lot of negative things can happen.

I’m sorry for ruffling your feathers “King of Arachnoboards” (keyboard warrior).

You’re still missing the main point here. You are not paying attention to the fact that it is an option to have the Ts sent to you unlabeled for experienced keepers only! Again, I’d find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t be able to tell you what you got should you not know or want to know. Please do yourself a favor and follow the link with those angry fingers and look through the options. It seems pretty awesome compared to other offers I’ve seen like this around.

Your time here vs someone else’s lack there of doesn’t make your opinion or knowledge any more significant than the one who has been here less time. However if that’s what makes you feel good and powerful, then please continue on ELSEWHERE...oh and pay your way through because that makes you better too I guess??

If the OP had asked what your opinion was or asked for help on this topic then your opinion should be shared. Otherwise, your opinion and or help was not asked for, therefore you should be silent...lol.

Relax a little!

Who appointed you the arachnoboards police, boss man?

No one is silenced anyone. The problem is people commenting when they dont know what all is involved with the type of mystery box I purchased. Nothing should be ASSUMED with this box because you can cherry pick most of the details.

With that said I suggest you never ASSUME that someone’s experience level is determined by how long they have been a member on this forum. That is plain dumb because I know people that have over 20 years experience that haven’t joined yet, so if they do are you going to tell them you know more because you have been here longer. LOL.

I agree, all I am trying to do is post what all is received from a mystery box, lol. Everything is turned into a debate, doesn’t matter, its my box, I paid for it, and I will share with you all what I end up getting.

I wasn't even talking about myself. There are people here with decades of tarantula experience, and also those who have been supporting these forums for a very long time. Why you would think that you're able to tell anyone here, especially those people, to keep quiet as a new member is beyond me.

When a post is made here (a discussion forum) the OP does not have to grant members permission to share their opinions on it. I don't know why you think that is how it works, but it's not.

Experienced keepers can still screw up if they don't know what animal they have, in a number of ways. They're just people. Some may make more educated guesses than others, but that's a really selfish way to approach the care of living things.

This. Some species are very similar and difficult to tell apart.

You still don't get it. THIS IS OPTIONAL. Its your personal choice when buying the box. Now I'm going to have to post a whole new thread once they come because this thread is full of nonsense.

But he went to the website and looked at it all and understands it...

I did that before I posted anything in this thread.
:banghead::bored:

I guess I should be quiet though....I don’t have enough time on the forums to say much...:wacky:

Guys calm down lol. Some like surprises, others don’t. Simple as that.

U take a guess, contact the seller, and see if u guessed right...

I understand both perspectives here, but fighting over it doesn't help anyone's case. I was planning on just watching the thread to see what Ts were received for my own curiosity, but reading people going at it is irrelevant to the thread and just takes up space.

You can have reasonable discussions and differing opinions without reducing it to pettiness and name-calling (I'm not directing that at either side in particular).

Please don't post a new thread. Not only does it make things a bit more difficult for people actually trying to keep up with the original point of this thread, but it's also a bit meaningless and just adds work for the mods because they'd probably just merge the two threads anyway.

Regardless, best of luck with the new Ts. Hopefully they're not too difficult for mystery Ts. Also, when you get them, would you mind sharing whether they comment on the moisture requirements of the species? For the true mystery T option, it seems like it only mentions OW/NW and arboreal/terrestrial/fossorial. So I'd like to know if they mention anything regarding that.

Which I think is a terrible idea.
Then don't do it.

Still tempting fate if you asked me. I highly doubt they’ll keep a file of all mystery orders they fill over the years. No one knows what next month, next year or next decade will bring. I’ve seen plenty “I don’t want to but I’m selling my Ts” ads. Sounds like an easy way to get species mixed up and crossbred to me.
They would be a very irresponsible business if they did not keep records of their transactions. And they would need to know what they send out in mystery orders just the same as "normal" orders to keep their inventory up to date. It isn't a mystery to the *seller*

Ease down there, Scrappy

1. You do not speak for me.

2. Pot calling the kettle black much? "I'm telling you what to do, and that is to not tell people what to do!"

Sincerely,
Someone with almost two decades of T experience who only discovered this forum one decade ago, who thinks unlabeled mystery boxes sound like a friggin ton of fun, and who now may just have to order one despite my hatred of vendors.
