IS IT GOOD AS A BEGINNER TARANTULA?
For every beautiful Old World, there's a just as beautiful New World. Get yourself a NW first:meh: Why does everyone always want to skip over NWs? Also, if your info is correct, I definitely would not recommend an OW to a fifteen year old. Their venom is potent. Nothing to mess around with. Take some time to read the bite reports section of this forum.

Their absurdly defensive pet holes, so no not great beginner spiders....go for E.pachypus or A.ezendami. Much less high strung.

Some members of the ceratogyrus genus are good starter OWs as well.

Which question are you asking? Are you new to keeping tarantulas in general, or do you already have some experience with New World species and are looking to get into Old World species?

If you are a novice keeper, I would not recommend Pterinochilus lugardi or any other Old World species.

I would not recommend an Old World species to a 15 year old - period. There are plenty of beautiful New World species.

If you really want an OW species: P. lugardi is very fast, very defensive (even for an OW) and the rest of the time they hide. I haven't seen mine in months.

I think the lad literally just has a B. vagans, besides, I wouldn't even feel good recommending a Psalmo to a 15 yr old let alone any OW

No its old world, so its fast, defensive and has potent venom. Get yourself a Brachypelma or Grammastola species.

Also you created two same threads.
Yeah sorry. My internet connection from the first thread was slow so i didnt know that it was created so i touched "post thread twice. Sorry

As already stated it won’t be much of a “display” as it will be underground the majority of the time.

Those species most likely are not going to give you nearly enough experience to deal with Old Worlds.

No wonder you're bored with NWs. You have three, generally chill NWs. That's not very many. If you're bored with those, why not try something that's not so much of a pet rock? Something a little bit more skittish, like N. incei, Nhandu chromatus, C. cyaneopubescens, etc.

What concerns me isn't even your experience level; realistically speaking, you're fifteen years old and wanting a tarantula that could potentially put you in the hospital. If you were an adult, I wouldn't care all that much whether or not you're getting an OW because that would be your decision, anything that happens would be an effect of that decision, assuming you're a healthy individual your body would have the capacity more or less to effectively fight off the venom, and there most likely wouldn't be anyone else to suffer the potentially consequences of an escape. However, it's safe to assume you have other people in your household who would be at risk. Do they know the effects of the venom? Are they all healthy adults? Are they okay with having something like that in the house? (all rhetorical questions, no need to answer) You don't have to be handling to suffer a bite. In fact, the only bite report entry for Pterinochilus lugardi was not a bite brought on by handling. The effects, according to the poster, were "My entire arm was numb. It was the course over six hours the numbness and delayed reaction time subsided and then muscle soreness and swelling ensued. Late[r] on the second day after the bite, I experienced cold sweats, muscle spasms and chest pains. Now four days after the bite all I experience is returned swelling and localized pain." Also, according to the poster of the report, they were still having complications from the venom a month after the initial envenomation. I think you should definitely wait to get an OW of any sort.

See @cold blood response from another thread about starter (fossorial) OW's... Different genus/species, but same idea for starting out with OW's and wanting a (fossorial) T for display,

A display t is one that you can see. Just set up an empty aquarium, drill a hole in the sub and pretend you have one...cause that's what you see most of the time.

Great T's, but all starter NW's, why don't you try some others first, there are so many others that you now just skip because of the NW "flag/tag". There are enough NW's out there that make great display T's and also have different attitudes/temperament and behaviors. It's would be shame to just ignore them :(

As a 15 year old, you probably don't live alone, you might wanna run this past your caretakers / siblings also, as @spookyvibes post/description can effect them also if someone gets tagged for whatever reason.

I woudn't recommend a P. lugardi for a 15 year old, as others have said a T that is very defensive and can put you or other members of your family in the hospital is not a good choice. I suggest you get some experience with very defensive NW before you move into OW. A GBB is beautiful and would give you experience with speed or a P. cancerides that gets quite large and give you experience with extreme defensiveness, both NW and won't cause too much harm if you get tagged.
