My money's on him either rolling a grenade into the room or using a flame thrower. If he tried a two by four the thing would have ran up it and shredded his face.

I watched a 1955 film called Tarantula in the early hours of the morning and can conclusively say that a grenade wouldnt work.. not if all the TNT they used didnt work.. they blasted the giant T with napalm from aircraft hehehehe it was real I tell you! {D

don't worry about it idiotnewb;)

i understand your situation....what i don't understand is why people are being nasty to this guy cough londoner cough cough.

yeah he may have killed his tarantula, but i believe some people don't understand what it would be like to be in his situation, everyones different and unless you were their, you can't really say you shouldn't have killed it, especially if he has an allergic reaction.

I think we're missing the point here guys, how did you kill it?
Thanks for awakening the curiousity in me. I would also like to know how he decided to kill it as he said it was quick.

I also sincerely hope that you are genuine and not posting this thread to see how many replies you can get or how many people you can rev up.

D*mn! Napalm and TNT?!!! I'm thinking we're looking at use of a suitcase nuke here, folks. I don't know though... If a cockroach can survive a nuclear holocaust you know a cobalt can. I'm not convinced it's dead. Three days from now it's going to roll a big stone away from the entrance to a hide and emerge all powerful, meaner, and looking to even the score. {D

The other guys are implying that he is pulling our chain to get a reaction and it is not true.

G'day opticle. Not nasty, just brutally honest. IF this guy's for real he knows what sort of response he'll get from a forum for tarantula enthusiasts...Jeez! I'm starting to sound like Simon Cowell!!!

I did a lot of research. I underestimated its aggressiveness, I underestimated its ferocity. If I could have gotten it back into its cage I would have felt a lot safer and either asked for advice or sold it immediately for free to whoever wanted it just to get it away from me. I knew if I could get it into a cage it would burrow and I would never see it again. I just couldn't get it into the cage and its attacks toward me put me into a situation that I've never been into before. I've read quite a few posts on here about Cobalt Blues and everybody talks about how psycho they are but they are always in cages. I am not afraid of something in a cage because its only going to get to me if I let it. When its wild and running loose in my house that changes the whole situation. I've learned that I'm not the only one who has contemplated this action today. A couple of people who read Pm'd me about having the same thoughts. I also got a great tip today about trapping them under the bowl and using a something to slide under the bowl and getting them back into the cage. I cant change my decision because its over now but what I can do is apply this new knowledge to my current tarantula because someday it might act aggressive and I need to know what to do.

I still have no clue to what people talk about when I hear stories like this one (or 1000 others if this is bogus).

I think it is bogus- Same person posted a thread that got deleted asking for recipes and suggestions on how to cook a tarantula.

Seriously, get a life.

couldn't you of slipped cardboard paper under the bowl and then picked the cardboard and bowl up while the T was under the bowl and slipped it isn't it's new home???

I accidentally killed my first H. lividum sling (Satan) by putting cedar mulch in it's substrate. I used a mulch mix that my mother had for her garden, not realizing it had the cedar in it. :wall: When I found it I thought it must have been too dry in the vial, I didn't discover it was cedar poisoning until next spring.

I also accidentally killed Ginger, my OBT sling; it took off when I was rehousing it and squeezed into a crack in the baseboards. Either I killed or fatally wounded it when I was trying to coax it out, (I used a chopstick and I tried to be as gentle as I could, but it was almost impossible to see where the spider was) or it froze, my old room would get very cold in the winter.

There's nothing you can do about it now. Just take good care of your remaining T, everyone makes mistakes.

I think when you start keeping the faster, more defensive, more potently venomous species, slings or small juvies are the best choice.

I have decided that my current T is about the most I can handle. She scares me when she moves fast but its only because I am worried she will slip and fall and split open because she is terrestrial. If I do buy another T it will be a beginners species and either a chaco, brazilian black, or red phase rosea. After that experience I started to second guess my current T and I know as they moult behaviors can change. I know she will get big but if she ever gets too aggressive that I can't manage I will have to give her away even if I have to do it for free and pay for the shipping myself. I won't make the same mistake and maybe I will never be ready for an aggressive T, I don't ever want to be in that situation again.

To the OP.

If this story is not a troll job, you should seriously reconsider what pets you should keep. Mind you lividums are a tad on the hyper side, but your decision to just kill it rather than recapture it says you have a long way to go before you can safely deal with ANY T. Pretty much any species can react the way the lividum did.

Honestly, get a dog or rat or something cuddly. By reading your posts you obviously don't know what it's really like to own Ts. These are pets that are meant for handling and cuddling with. I don't mean to sound so mean or rude, I'm just being blunt. Tarantulas are display animals with ABSOLUTELY no means of being tamed.
