I have a Cyriocosmus elegans aka Trinidad Dwarf Tiger and a Kochiana brunnipes aka Dwarf Pink Leg and I got them as teeeny tiny slings on 8-22-2021. It was incredible how small they were. They could sit comfy on the eraser end of a pencil and still have room. My Kochiana is literally twice the size of the Tiger now. I know that males are smaller than females but I was wondering. Do these two tarantulas age the same? My Kochiana is top to bottom about 1 inch And tiger is about 1/2 inch. They both eat no problem and the small one moves dirt around all the time making tunnels and different holes to run to. Kochiana has her hide under the cork-bark and has fully lined it and just hangs out with her legs sticking out ready for anything. The tiger is constantly moving and rearranging. Unfortunately it’s mostly out of site and if I make a window she covers it by the next morning. I don’t know if boys are that burrow oriented.

So my questions are: Are these guys similar in size while they grow or do the tigers grow slower? Do the boys burrow as much as the girls? Do you think my tiger is a boy cause it’s so much smaller? Are your tigers and kochianas just as adorable as mine?😋

Your questions are quite dependent on the species and specimen. So there really isn't a straight forward answer to be fair.

It depends on the species and the specimen. But as for those two species they'll get about the same size. But since they're different species, growth rates will be different as all species have different growth rates. But also know that care and the individual specimen will also affect or determine growth rate.

Do the boys burrow as much as the girls?
No. Behaviors, habits, and responses of spiders is highly dependent on species and the individual specimen. All specimens are unique individuals, so don't expect all of them to be the same.

Do you think my tiger is a boy cause it’s so much smaller?
Smaller doesn't always mean male. It will vary with species and specimen.

Ty for responding :) I basically think the same but thought I could ask anyway cause “you never know” 🤷‍♀️ No matter if they are boy or girl they are awesome and beautiful.

I think @Liquifin gave just about the best answer possible. He might not have given you the very definitive sounding responses you probably sought, but he’s not being evasive. Behaviors and growth rates simply do vary quite a bit from spider to spider. Keep 20 of them from the same species purchased at different times from different sources over a period of 20+ years, and then maybe you will be able to make a few reasonable generalizations about the species, but you will conclude that different individuals were different, just like people. How fast do they grow? Well I’m friends with a human giraffe, and also with someone that has genetic dwarfism; they grew at different rates, but both turned into fine people. You have some nice spiders, and I hope you enjoy them both.

I’ve never noticed any different behavior as it relates to burrowing b/w the sexes as slings and juveniles unless they are mature adult male and out wandering not being burrowed any more.

No not necessarily, it could be, but not just because it’s smaller. It is a different species so has a different growth rate than the other. The only ways you should gestimate sex is looking for, or absence of, epiadrous fusillae, or definitively looking for spermathacae.

Mine is 😉

Google their average adult size

I don’t use species growth as a factor to be concerned about. There’s no point.
