Jealous.. weird looking Hysterocrates are my favorite.

Yeah I have no idea for sure what it is since the genus is such a mess I just put sp hercules because no okne can say they have a true hercules but she's different from crassipes gigas laticeps that I have kept in the past she's more gray in color almost light black.

Jealous.. weird looking Hysterocrates are my favorite.

If your interested I know a guy that may still have some left they were only 79.00 4 inches .

Appreciate it, but I'm in Canada.

Ok well there are some good dealers in Canada as well that I am sure can get some more there's only a few German exporters that ship to the Us and Canada.

Ok last picture I will post some more next spring after shes molted again I want to slow her, growth down since she lost both of her pedipalps, I want them to come back strong next molt.

That's where your wrong - there was a point where the hercules were imported by the truckload.

I've heard that same line "they don't exist in the hobby" over and over again. It's people just regurgitating what they read.

I've gotten this information from one of the few people that originally helped to bring Tarantulas here in the U.S. - For a while the gigas and hercules were coming over by the truckload. Everything of course used to be wayyy bigger. I've also heard this directly from various distributors/wholesalers.

I got an email back from Richard Gallon, who say's it's probably hysterocrates - he's requesting a dead one and a molt.

I am very very excited! Now I will celebrate with pictures!

this one is male
Yes! Wow! This looks identical to the H.hercules/ mystery spider I had grown from spiderlings I found in the base of a plant imported from west Africa! The back legs are thin and short, patellla sits "considerably" higer than tibia, thats concave or thin in the base half, so patella looks bulbous. And the males have a shorter wider carapace and slim chelicerae and very short back legs over the females, that are short compared to other hystos. Please see my recent post "goliath baboon" on the tarantula I.d section. It has many links from the comments to over two years of research.. I hope I can get your input on this, thanks!!

Did they turn dark brown? They look quite black..

I purchased this male as a hyster. hercules years ago from a friend - alive back then. A lot of people say that all the hercules on price lists are in fact gigas. I have a mature male gigas as a comparison - not a very good pic. The gigas is smaller and has skinnier leg tips than the "hercules".
