Actually, taxonomic instability should be expected. As all taxa are explanatory hypotheses, they are always fallible constructs. Unfortunately, too many professional systematists think we should strive for nomenclatural stability. That, however, is wholly at odds with the way science operates. Name stability is just an unfortunate carryover from pre-evolutionary times.one "problem" with taxonomy is that is changes. usually ppl are trying to figure out what the real truth of the situation is, but sometimes politics and like, hubris come into play. but species can be described one year and some how invalidated the next. and then revalidated 73 years later. it's hectic =P
