It is very complicated and controversial to those unaccustomed to my beliefs, but I can assure you, it was not something I whipped up over night. It has taken me many years to develop my theories on religion. In any case, this is not the thread to discuss in DEPTH, religious beliefs.

Absolutely not. I can give you a very long list of beliefs that not only will I not respect but also fight against, beliefs like racism and the like for example. And I do not respect the belief of killing a spider slowly for ritualistic purposes. It goes against my beliefs. I believe in respecting life wherever I find it and that respect for life includes ending one as fast as possible and with as little fuss as possible if it is necessary.

So, we will act like savages then? Shekita is ritualistic, yet, it is considered to be the most humane way of slaughter for human consumption. Your emotional bound social warrior agenda stops here. YOUR METHODS of killing cause undue harm and mess to the body of the spider. Had I not killed her, she would have surely been eaten alive by the pholcids hanging around, and she was too important to me to be crushed or electrocuted like a common house-fly.

Are you saying that 'stomping' on a spider/any other arthropod and instantly killing them causes undue harm to them compared to impaling them and waiting for them to die? I'm sorry but @boina is right, we don't have to respect everyone's belief either. Similar to her, if I have to dispatch any organism, it'll be in the fastest way possible to lessen the amount of pain/suffering the organism will have to deal with.

You say it like I do it all the time. I can count on my right hand how many times I've ever personally killed a spider, and none of those times have left me without feeling haunted, but when I did have to do it, I was gentle, quick, and precise, and it has never taken longer than 2 minutes for true death to occur, tested by the flame of a match to induce movement, always in vain, and always with consideration of feeling any pain. Often, 4/5 times, death occurred within seconds of implement, it was only on my first that I messed up, and since then, I've been as ethical as possible when it comes to the care of my babies.
