I have also heard that Vaseline works too. Of course, getting rid of the colony is the ideal solution, if possible. Are the ants inside your tarantula enclosures? I know some folks in high ant areas have used water basins to prevent them from crawling up inside
Yes and no. Not all work, from my first hand experience. I have personally found Terro to be the absolute best, with 100% positive results. Finding the source of entry into the home is the key (or at least as close to, as possible). What I love about Terro is that it is a bait, not necessarily a trap. You do not want to trap the ants, as a trap can only hold so many. The bait is better, as it will have the workers bring the poisoned bait back to the Queen. Which in turn destroys the entire colony.start with placing ant traps purchased at any hardware store along the pathway.
yea its like in my slings enclosure and he she is about to molt and the problem is i see them inside but i only see like 1 or 2 and than the rest are outside the enclosure on my table, ive even tried putting cayene pepper and black pepper idk what to doAre the ants inside your tarantula enclosures? Hmmm this is not what I would expect to be a big issue in Atlantic City. Where did you get your substrate. I’m wondering if you brought them in through that means. But I’d just put ant traps down to prevent them from entering your room with them in in the first placeyea its like in my slings enclosure and he she is about to molt and the problem is i see them inside but i only see like 1 or 2 and than the rest are outside the enclosure on my table, ive even tried putting cayene pepper and black pepper idk what to do

All I did was type the word "ants" in the search window (magnifying glass icon at the top right, on a desktop) and changed the drop down menu from "everywhere" to "this forum", and then clicked on the checkbox for "search titles only". Voila!

Ant Control - Are Baits Okay?
I've got a bad ant problem in my tarantula room. There are a series of steps I'm taking to get rid of them and (hopefully) prevent them from returning or at least from getting into enclosures. I'm wondering, if I put down one of those baits where the ants take it back to the colony and it's...arachnoboards.com
Ants
I hate ants. I have them in the bedroom where the spiders are. I've laid down terro for them to eat and spread and die. Theyre coming from the wall outlet on that side. Because my place is small I can't really move my spiders anywhere else. In the other room the AC runs a lot and the temp goes...arachnoboards.com

Only water I have in my room is my tarantulas water dishes and there is literally no other water source in my room. No food nothingThose home remedies you are using don’t get rid of ants, mild deterrents
They have found a food source or water, something has their interest.

I’m not talking about quality soils, that’s all just a marketing ploy to get folks to spend more money. I don’t use any of those. Peat/coco-fiber/100% top soil or any combo of those is perfectly fine.I got the substrate from petco i shouldve bought a better quality one , im thinking about cleaning my slings enclosure tomorrow and get quality soil for arachnid before he she molts
Nice, I never knew that and it's cheaper than any Terro ant trapsBefore going nutso on ant traps, look up boric acid, take the money you just saved to buy another spider and me a beer![]()
