Hello I’m getting a Homoeomma chilense yearling that is supposed to be about 3/4-1 inch.. I have seen grown before but curious if anyone has any this size? I would just like to see how it will look. Also I know they are slow growers but can anyone show me a year old or 2 years old. I’d like to see the growth thanks

I can show you mine.

I’ll take a few photos once I get home.

The one I got it as 1/4” and its recent molt dates are as follow:

12/03/2023
06/17/2024
07/29/2024
09/08/2024
10/26/2024

Meanwhile, I can assure you, it’s still less than, if not barely an inch.

Thanks I would love to see. What are you feeding. I’m waiting to size before I buy but I’m assuming pinhead crickets? I think I will have to order bc the pet store here only had juvenile crickets. They said I could pre kill and would be fine but don’t want to do that. Wild like it to be able to take down its prey to.

Jealous. Mine has moulted twice and is still under one cm. But even at that size it does have a lot of curiosity and personality. It’s my favourite sling by miles. So cute.

I’m super excited. Have the enclosure all set up. Just waiting on spiderling. Supposed to be here the 12th. I bought from exotics unlimited. They still have available. But you have to order by midnight on Sunday for shipping that ties or weds. I ordered Tuesday so have to wait all week but worth it

Hmm yours moulted quite frequenty. I've had mine for almost a year. Got it at like 1/2''. In the 11 months I had it it moulted once and is now 1/2'' :embarrassed:

Possibly it might have had some additional ninja moults.

I'd rather see it grow a little more quickly just to get out of the very delicate stage. The sling seems to be quite hardy though. Also not the best eater.

I so would but i’m in the UK. Depending on cold weather warnings I have a dolichothele rufoniger sling arriving soon but trying not to expand my collection right now. 🤔🙄 But i’d get a bigger HC for sure. It’s so cute.

I ordered 2 slings of homoeamma orellanai, yellow flames, that size from fearrnottarsntulas recently. They should be shipped next week.I’m really enthusiastic about it.
Where did you order yours from?

I ordered mine from exotics unlimited. They are the only place I could find in stock. They also through in a freebie bc I spent over 100$ so they gave me a T. vagans (Mexican red rump.)About to make another order from SpiderShoppe though bc they have 2 I really want. Including the Colombian blue dwarf. And a free Green bottle blue with a purchase of 100$ or more

Our h orellanai slings arrive towards the end of Feb.
1 is more active, was moving around on the go most of the time in its 50 dram vile. In recent weeks it’s spending more time along the side in a burrow hide it’s made in the moss.
The other was seemingly less active but built an elaborate borrow down into the substrate along the side. Maybe 2 weeks ago it started looking shiny, like what I assume it might look like before it molts, these are our first t’s so not certain. Then it barricaded itself somewhere in the middle in a burrow hide in the moss. I haven’t seen it since but from what I’ve read I’m not concerned, aside from filling the 2 tattoo ink cups with water when they’re low I don’t even pick up the enclosure and look for it anymore.
They each had a segment of mealworm the second week and didn’t touch the segments I put in there weeks ago.
So they seem to be doing well.

I was thinking that I wanted to get an h chilense red flame to go with the yellow flames and was considering ordering a sling but then before I did we went to a repticon event and a guy there who had lots of t’s had 1” or so 2 year old h chilense red flames.
I got 1 that already had some color showing and has lots of personality. It’s doing well, active most of the time, and crawled right out onto our hands when we were moving it from it’s cup to a temporary enclosure then to its tarantula crib, just as I’ve read they do.
It’s commonly active and walking and crawling the enclosure. It hasn’t burrowed much but did dig out a corner own as far as it can go and wedged itself down there from time to time.
It was so active when I ordered a tarantula crib I got 1 bigger for its size, 4” 4” 6” and though it seems to like it I read recently that too big might make it use more energy than it’s should and could slow its growth or even stress them out, even though it doesn’t seem stressed , sitting out in the open often enough.
But consider moving it to a smaller 4” 4” cube if that would benefit it. I’d appreciate thoughts on that.
Anyhow, really enjoyable t to have even at this size.

My fiancé’s was against me getting a t at first but eventually her concern was where would I put it. When she agreed she still didn’t want anything to do with them, but the size of the T’s and how only their enclosures made it easy going, then the h chilense I got 3 weeks ago has won her over, she says hi to it and checks on it. I can tell she’s proud of herself for holding it.
