Are you sure it tried to attack you? Mine come over and touch my hands when I'm changing the water dish or doing maintenance- they just touch me to see what this big thing is- you have to remember they're pretty much blind. I used to think they were being defensive, but once I got over the fear of the fear, it was ok. My rosea will actually climb on my hand, feel around and go on her merry way!

I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF T IT IS.BUT IT REARED BACK WHEN I GAVE IT WATER
Leave it alone!!!!

It has a water dish, now it's fine. Leave it be for a week and let it settle in before trying to do anything else to it. Otherwise you or the spider is probably going to end up hurt.

It still looks like P. cancerides to me.

Descripton found Here

Often confused with Brachypelma spinicrus (correctly Citharacanthus spinicrus (Latreille, 1819)). C. spinicrus has a golden iridescent hairs on carapace and femurs of all legs. (Smith, 1986). Haitian representatives of P. cancerides have from blue to red iridescent hair on the caparace and the femurs. (Schmidt, 2003). Absence of plumose hairs on the anterior surface of femur I (Chamberlin, 1917)

And some pics:

I bet it is a rosea, the pics are not that good quality.
I KNOW you're freaking out! What is the problem? LEAVE IT ALONE!!! Keep your hands out of the enclosure, give it some space, some time to get used to it's new home, and everything will be OKAY -- if you are that freaked out by it, take it BACK to where you got it and get a goldfish!!!!

It does seem like it's resting on sand substrate. You might want to give it some potting soil (fertilizer free), mixed with peat moss or perhaps some vermiculite. We havent got a positive ID on it yet, but chances are it doesn't "want" to be resting on sand. It might hang out on that rock untill you change it.

Hey Shaun--I noticed the substrate, too- but I was afraid I was gonna freak her out even MORE!! I think the best thing is to leave it alone for a week and if she can't cope--return it!!! I don't mean to pick on her, but she really needs to chill!!

If you're worried about it "attacking you"; i'd suggest maybe putting some sort of barrier when you reach in to change its water or what not. With my H. lividum; if its not inside its burrow and I need to reach in; i normally stand a book on its side; just incase. As for the types of it; be computer isnt showing me pictures; so the only way I could help out would be to send my the pictures by email (providing you want to). Wish you the best of luck.
