That is true, but he can always say that the majority of the 'fee' goes to purchasing the T's enclosure and accessories.

Also, i think this guy is just uneducated, not stupid. The fact that he's taking advice to heart and admits that he has more to learn is a big step in the right direction. Be nice. :}

hey what are some key words you guys are using to find the tarantulas on CL i tried: Tarantulas, Spiders, ect with no luck.

I try the same keywords, with the same end results. I think that people in my area are just not into spiders as pets. Even checking lists from nearby cities, the closest Ts i've seen on CL are at least 2 hours away. It doesn't hurt to keep looking though.

When searching craigslist, you have to change the drop-down to 'community', not 'for sale'. Search for tarantula, tarantulas, spider, spiders. Usually that pulls stuff up.

The guy told me in his e-mail that he paid $140 for the spider itself.
Also, the enclosure and accessories for a spider like that shouldn't be over $20.

As far as the bite=bee-sting thing, that's probably exactly what the guy was told when he bought it, unfortunately. I may be LPS, but you will NEVER catch me saying that... especially about an OBT! Whenever I hear a customer say that (usually to the friend standing next to them when they COULD just ask ME) I like to find the largest fangs in my "for sale" group and tell them to imagine those teeth suddenly sinking into their hand and then imagine the holes left behind. :evil: I don't even have to go into envenomation (sp?) by that point. They get the idea. I don't SCARE... I EDUCATE. ;P

I actually had to quit looking at Craiglist for a while. I got so wrapped up in the "imparting wisdom" (which SOOOO many people take wrong!) that I was up until 4 a.m. every night flagging and e-mailing and trying to sort out threads. I almost had to start to taking medication! People REALLY don't like to be told they don't know EVERYTHING!
