My male is typical, my daughter's AF pulchra normal. I have found it is roughly 10% across the genus
I actually just went and checked on my G. Pulchripes a minute ago for the first time post moult and it actually lunged at and grabbed the brush hard, I can’t wait to feed this lil bugger tomorrow

Will a zoo med 18x by 18x by 18x work for a C veriscolor? I know the top is mesh, should I replace it? I have a cork round, some fake non wax plants, water dish, and I can buy more if needed. The cork round is big though. Thanks for the help again!

12x12x18 would be best, as a full adult enclosure, for a decent sized juvenile or small adult, 8x8x12 is fine. Also if you watch a lot of Dave’s little beasties videos, he doesn’t change the mesh for his arboreal Ts, and my Psalmopeous Victori seems to do fine on it. I think arboreal species fare a little better.

My LP is so chill, she doesn’t even like to kick her hairs off usually. Last time she kicked hairs was when I had to dig her out of a tunnel to rehouse her. I’ve only seen threat postures from her if I bug her with food too close to a moult. She even defensively bit a hornworm once. It was black by the morning.

18x18x18 is way too big for that tarantula. 12x12x18 which I have one and will only put 7+ adult arboreal in but to each their own I guess
100% I feel like I should have gone with a 8x8x12 for my P. Victori. She’s in her enclosure and fine, but she’s got too much room. And it’s easy to think that your ideal enclosure is too small when you’re new to keeping Ts.

It can work depending on how you set it up. I could put my P. irminia in it as she finally broke through the 5 inch size but she's only around 5.5 inches. Still too small for that the way I set her enclosure up.

How would the Versicolor be affected if I put it in that enclosure? Will it reject it and not be comfortable?
Thanks!
It can just be difficult to find food or for food to find them mostly is what I think the issue is. I just downsized my largest T, a 6” LP into an enclosure less than half the size, and she seems to love it.

This is, in my opinion, too large for a Caribena versicolor, At most a 12x12x12 should suffice. And yes absolutely you MUST replace the woven mesh top, that part for this arboreal is non negotiable!!

Yes, if I can find, or 3 inches plus since they grow fast.
Go by 2 to 2.5 the times of the T's DLS, ( diagonal leg span). For arboreals you want taller height for the enclosure. Stick to that and if wire mesh lid/top like with Exo Terra it needs to be replaced.

Why it needs to be replaced because not only is it woven mesh that a tarantula can get it's leg/s stuck a sub-adult on up can rip it open and escape.

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get the thin acrylic sheet. Ask service desk up front where it's located if you can't find it. You also need aquarium safe glue, I use a glue gun.

I cut it with a utility knife it's simple. Cut to size to fit the lid/top

Now there's two ways to make air vents in it 1. Drill or 2. Soldering iron. I use a $10 soldering iron and I've done it inside. I recommend you do it outside or your parents might reign down on you due to the toxic smell of burning acrylic.

Once you have it finished rip the wire mesh out of the lid. Glue the acrylic in it's place voila you're done and it's easy to do.

Not just replying for your benefit alone, but I will add that it doesn't have to be specifically marketed as "aquarium safe" silicone, I use silicone that is GE1, I have used it for many years and it is perfectly safe (I have never had any animal or plant in a viv die becuase of it. You just have to make sure it has completely cured before adding any animal in to it (directions are on the label). The great thing about this is that apart from it doing just as well of job, it is also far cheaper than marketed aquarium silicone, and acquirable at most hardware stores.

Another option is to use hot glue, which I have never found to be unsafe. Added bonus of this option is it dries much quicker and doesnt smell, compared to silicone. For a Caribena versicolor option which should never have a surplus of moisture, hot glue should be good.

Heres what I use. Disclaimer before someone potentially says "no you cant use that it says it prevents molt", thats just the marketing packaging because the broad market responds much more readily to this buzz word catch phrase. This silicone
(GE1) though doesn't have any of the other mold inhibitors that other GE# formulations do; the packaging has just been updated on the GE1 to match the whole line of "mold inhibiting' products. Silly public always fearing mold, fungi, and bacteria, and getting manipulated in the process  IMG_2156.jpeg FullSizeRender.jpeg

Ahhh good to know

I use a glue gun that uses those glue sticks and never had an issue with it. I bought it off Amazon and I have two them. I lost the first one then bought another then I eventually found the first one lol. I admit I do not know if it's aquarium safe but it works with no issues.

I just listed aquarium safe for the member so he/she doesn't use a toxic type of glue/silicon.

Yup that definitely works too! I have always bought my hot glue stick at walmart.

And yeah I thinkit was good idea to mention, it I figured I would just follow up with some other information on what other silicone can be safe just as a bonus.

It was definitely good info for me with what you provided as I didn't have a clue.
