How did the unpacking go? Got pics of the little bugger, or its enclosure?:D

I really hope you have researched this T thoroughly, it is in a genus that is not for the faint at heart; or unprepared.

You know....he already said he wasn't planning on touching it. But if so, he's fully-armed with the knowledge (from the kind AB people) that this is a very fast & bitey spider, which has medically significant effects on the body, should his fleshy parts come in contact with its pointy parts.

I say go for it. Well, you've already gone for it. :)

Yes, do you have pictures? What are you keeping her in? And do you have plans for a larger enclosure once she starts growing? (Asking this because both my P. regalis and P. rufilata grew WAY faster than I expected and I'm now planning enclosures for full-grown pokies....which should happen within 1-2 molts for both of them).

If your camera isn't working well, why did you say you would post a pic then? What possibly could be so "personal" about your enclosure (what you put it in)? :?

Oh and is this the same P. striata that escaped here:

on the loose

I hate to say this but maybe you should go to home depot and purchase a bug bomb if you are the same poster..... Here is my story....about 10 years ago while i slept i was bitten on my forehead by a male brown recluse spider now,let me tell you it really messed me up bad only reason i didn't have to have skin graphs was because it was a male....Doctor told me this he said,if it were a female you would have been in really, really bad shape. Took more than a month to get back to normal....true story!

That bite report made me reconsider getting a pokie. I'd say I have intermediate experience, having kept quite a few terrestrials and avics for several years. No spider, no matter how cool looking, is worth risking a bite like that. I do have a Togo starburst baboon coming, which also may have a medically significant bite, but I decided to keep that as my only non-avic arboreal for quite a while.

Do your parents understand what you are buying? Even if you are careful, does everyone in your house, including siblings, if there are any, understand what you are bringing home?

I don't mean it in a bad way, but you don't seem to have enough age or experience to own a species like this. Be very careful, learn more, and make sure EVERYONE in your house is aware of how venomous this spider is so you don't have a bite event.

Yea its the same T....but it was all my brothers falt he left it open. See i had kept it in his room because it was warmer so then it got loose some how. It was a pretty fast bugger if i say so. Well since he lost it he gave me a new one. Its one of those digging and swimming spiders.

Then I guess everyone in your home DIDN'T know what you brought home... And I don't think I've heard about those digging and swimming spiders... What species are we talking about here?

It was an H. gigas, and the thread is here complete with videos. I've read that they are a burrowing species that will "swim" if a pool is provided in their enclosures. As far as why they have adapted to do this, be it for defense or for hunting or for something else, I don't know.

I knew this wouldn't end well...
You really shouldn't own T's..
