Read up here on AB on P. metallica. Research on best rehouse practices. This is not a T to underestimate. If you get tagged and envenomated you are going to get jacked up lasting for a few weeks. You can have symptoms off and on for up to 6 months to a year.

Rehouses is where things can go south.

For sure! I've been doing my best to research for weeks and I plan to keep reading. Thanks for the suggestions. I watched a lot of Dave's little beasties rehouses as well. Hoping for the best.

My best advice is don't try to mimick everything he does.

There are better ways to rehouse these that you can find on AB. The object is to keep you and your T safe.

Poecilotheria are really only for experienced keepers. Meaning, keepers that have kept lightning fast arboreals doing many rehouses with them.

There is no room for error. Starting with these you might have several outcomes...escape, bit or successful rehouse.

My Tapinauchenius violaceus is so fast it appears that it teleports. However the difference between what you have and this T. violaceus is there is no threat of being bit as it's venom is negligible.

No problem, members here want to help so you and your tarantula are safe.

I hope the best for you and sounds like you're doing your research.

One other thing is replace that screen mesh with acrylic. T's not only can get their legs stuck in it but they are very able to rip it open with their fangs and escape and this T you do not want escaping.

Went to one of my local petstores yesterday to get some crickets and was quite surprised, that they had a ~4'' P. Regalis for sale. The label had no info on sex and of course they had a shitty enclosure setup (default terrestrial like for all of their Ts). Did not bother to quiz staff about husbandry but I can imagine how that would go. Price was like €75 (~82 USD). Just for that reason I would assume it was male

From the pictures, you won’t need to rehouse any time soon. But,they are fast growing T,s.
They settle in to their enclosures pretty quickly given the right conditions,
But,whatever you are doing with them, feeding, adding water,or anytime you have the enclosure unsecured,do not get distracted.Don’t get over confident.

Yeah I didn't think i would need to rehouse soon. I am planning to put another piece of cork bark in so we will see how that go's.

That’s fine,but don’t over clutter the enclosure.
Remember,it’s best to always know where the T is at before messing around with them, and pokie slings can find any crevice to hang out at.Make sure to check around the top/side lids and openings before going in.
Caution and respect, you should be ok.Have fun and be safe.

Thanks. The only reason I'm doing it is because it doesn't have a good spot it can get away from the light.

One thing every pokie reacts to is light. They are more comfortable without bright lights and when lights are on they can be unpredictable and likely to bolt.

Is the a relationship between the tightness of a tarantulas eye clusters and their sensitivity to light?

Nah, the sensitivity to light would be dependent on the type/quantity of cells in the eyes. Not the positioning of the eyes themselves.

I probably used the wrong word. I was more asking if the was a coloration not necessarily it being causal

I keep a reef tank and my spiders in the same room, no problems so far. I don't do moonlight at night though, and they might bother spiders a little.
