I would like to point out that just because YOU don’t see it come out of its burrow, doesn’t mean it never does. My C lividum is ALWAYS sealed off in her burrow. However, late at night after the lights have been off a while, she comes out. Guess what, tarantulas are nocturnal. Who woulda known?

I don’t get it. It might be a do not disturb sing. But sometimes not definitely premolt.
That's true, and it's a point that seems not to have been covered earlier in this thread. For sure, premolt is not the only reason a T might seal off its burrow. In the wild, some silk over the burrow entrance each day to protect from the desiccating heat, or to protect against predators, or winter cold... etc.

The important message is: trust that the spider knows what it's doing, and do not dig it up.

This post may have been ancient but did give me a laugh. I was a new keeper in March. I fed my 3 slings - G pulchripes, P sazimai, A hentzi - pretty regularly, like a couple of times a week. Then the sazimai disappeared beneath it's bark, two weeks later followed by the other two. Molts appeared a week or so later, but not the slings. More molts came after a while. Then finally those two slings. Still not the sazimai. I don't think it ate for 2 months - possibly more - and that was fair because I'd been feeding them loads without really realising. They had plenty of reserves.
