So many awesome spiders! I appreciate your replies and photos very much and would love to see more 🙂 At the moment I'm very torn between the Chilobrachys Fimbriatus, Cyriopagopus Hati Hati, Ornithoctonus Aureotibialis and Phormingochilus Everetti (or a Rufus, they're both beautiful.)
I love heavy webber's so the Chilobrachys is very tempting, but the others are so nice too. Decisions, decisions!

C. hainanus/hainanum (or whatever they call them now), I don't have one yet, but they look amazing in pictures.

Oh boy, if we're adding Poecies into the mix, they'll end up trumping my other favorites entirely. I consistently put them in their own category and have over a dozen, which should say something. Full agreement with all three there though, but I'd agree on just about any of the genus being mentioned too lol. Blue. Green with big leg spans, and an inexpensive wower with a nice size, hard to go wrong with those picks.

Picked up a Chilobrachys Fimbriatus sling at my local expo today. Very happy with my choice! Thanks so much for the awesome recommendations and feel free to add more, I'm sure I'll be tempted before long by some more of the beauties you guys have show me.

Id recommend poecs later on. Theyre stunners, and theyre only going to be harder to get as time goes on. If poecilotheria srilankensis is taxanomically corrrect, I'd love to get one some day if they get to the US before theyre banned

All the suggestions in this thread are fantastic, but I was going to add a +1 in recommending C. fimbriatus - I have two little female slings that I see quite regularly for a species of Chilobrachys with a hard preference of webbing over burrowing IME. The larger of the two is already starting to show her stripes at maybe a little over an inch in DLS. They're both voracious eaters and have littered their enclosures with so much webbing despite the fact that I housed them on the larger side for their size. I really don't think anyone can go wrong getting one as their introduction to Asian OWs. Basin's pictures really speak for themselves, and I'm sure you're going to love watching your new addition growing up. And it will grow up quickly, might I add. ;)

The suggestions have been brilliant, I've been totally spoiled for choice! I was tempted by a few today but I saw the Fimbriatus and knew that was the one, especially after the recommendations here. The more I hear about them the cooler they seem. I'm very happy to get one as my first OW. I'll let her settle tonight and try feeding her tomorrow

And it won't be long before you get to see why their common name is the Indian violet tarantula.

C. lividus is a hobby staple, has quite the personality, and it may very well be the most vibrantly colored T in the hobby.

This T is also the one that kicked off my obsession for Asian Fossorials, so she will always be special to me.... 9B4474EC-E655-4D14-8F85-D49B48EB1D8D.jpeg

Did you already hit the expo? If so, what'd you get?!?!?!?!?

Off the list you're considering, I'd recommend the aureotibialis or the phormingochilus sp rufus. Ppl haven't mentioned that some of the asian arboreals build really neat stuff, my sp rufus almost builds up each cage to look like lil mouse tunnels, it's very unique. They're kinda pricey, but worth it imo.

edit: my malaysian earth tiger hid way too much for my liking but I've seen similar construction stuff from them too :)

Honorable mention:
Chilobrachys andersoni “Black Morph”

If you put G. pulchra on steroids, this is what you’d get. They’re supposedly the largest of all the Chilobrachys, and are absolutely gorgeous....

Unfortunately, they are pretty hard to come by, and most of the ones available are WC Adult Females, with Mature Males being almost impossible to find. So it could be a long time before these become established in the hobby....
