They are truly a sight to behold. Recently got to observe a few in the wild, will be an unforgettable memorylegspan of up to 18 centimetres (7.1 in) holy cow !!
Where did you fond those? I've been looking everywhere for them. I've finally managed to get a couple of Sicarius gracilis but would like thomisoides tooGot to be honest today I got my first 5 Sicarius thomisoides ( six eyed sand spider ) slings, been after these for a while but so hard to come across in UK, just wondering anyone else keep these crazy spiders.
Where did you manage to find these? I've been after S thomisoides for ages. I hope to some day have a setup where i can feel comfortable keeping those and Androctonus spp. safely. At the moment I don't.Got to be honest today I got my first 5 Sicarius thomisoides ( six eyed sand spider ) slings, been after these for a while but so hard to come across in UK, just wondering anyone else keep these crazy spiders.
In the UK, Androctonus sp are restricted by the Dangerous Wild Animals Act, along with all Buthidae scorpions, Latrodectus sp, Phoenutria sp,, and Atrax spp. Getting a licence to be able to keep those species is costly and difficult. Yet Sicarius are fair game with no restrictions.I hope to some day have a setup where i can feel comfortable keeping those and Androctonus spp. Safety. At the moment I don't.
If I lived in the UK I'd pay it.In the UK, Androctonus sp are restricted by the Dangerous Wild Animals Act, along with all Buthidae scorpions, Latrodectus sp, Phoenutria sp,, and Atrax spp. Getting a licence to be able to keep those species is costly and difficult. Sadly its not that simple. The licence is managed by individual councils. You have to pay for the application, which is anywhere between £75 and £5000, depending on which council area you live in. That lasts for two years. You also have to pay for a vet to inspect your premises and for public liability insurance. Demands can be made for sealed rooms, double entry door systems etc.If I lived in the UK I'd pay it.
Got to be honest they are certainly different to the big collection of Tarantulas I keep, the vertical moulting takes some getting used to though.I hope to some day have a setup where i can feel comfortable keeping those and Androctonus spp. safely. At the moment I don't.
