I know I shouldn't be knocking this thread back off topic but I just can't resist recalling one of my favorite Seinfeld dialogues...

Frank Costanza: "Let me understand, you got the hen, the chicken and the rooster. The rooster goes with the chicken. So, who's having sex with the hen?"

George Costanza: "Why don't we talk about it another time?"

Frank Costanza: "But you see my point here? You only hear of a hen, a rooster and a chicken. Something's missing."

Mrs. Ross: "Something's missing all right".

Mr. Ross: "They're all chickens. The rooster has sex with all of them".

:p:)
When Monthy Python made this in 1979, I don´t think they thought that the world would become as absurd as this 30 years later.

 I think there maybe is a secret phoneline between yours and mine...mine has her carapace and four front legs in the waterdish as well all of a sudden....

Mine is a weird one. First she takes six months to molt, sealing herself completely in. She molted last week, still no spider above ground. I went to get a roach out of there that magicly also survived six months, I had to tear the burrow for it a little. And now she's dunked in the waterdish. It's almost as though she couldn't come out on her own or something...even though she was very thirsty.
Strange creatures....

Since this died out, I didn't want to continue to derail it, and I don't want to leave ya hangin', Trenor (despite saying I was done with the thread you wanted to quote me directly with questions)...

Isn't that the problem, that they are not the lowest common denominator anymore? If they were you could easily ignore them and continue to treat them like people did in the past. Though now they are getting heard and people are less willing to let rudeness slide you tire of it.
PC has been around for decades and most people I know and have interacted with over the years are not PC except when forced to be such as at work. That doesn't mean they're rude or go out of their way to insult nor does it mean they think less of any group of people. It does make for some interesting, artificial environments and its fun to watch people try to tip-toe with words especially in a large, corporate environment :)

I find it amusing that when other people complain they need to 'man up'/'pull up their britches'/'find their big boy and girl pants' but it's perfectly ok for you to throw out your complainants. Just what do you need to go find to soothe your hurt feelings?
Where are my feelings hurt? Don't misinterpet what I wrote. I'm pretty much live and let live. You must have mistaken my explanation of why I don't like PC as hurt feelings rather than exactly what it was. An explanation. Hurt feelings? Lol, no, not even remotely close. I don't get offended nor do I really care if someone says something derogatory about me or my interests or calls them something nasty. I'm not asking people to replace their vocabulary to make me happy by calling me special terms or keep from offending me in any way, shape, or form (live and let live, plus it helps me know exactly the kind of person someone is by giving them free reign to talk how they want). Now, remind me who wants people to do just that. PC does. A movement to force everyone to use only friendly or neutral terms so nobody gets their feelings hurt. An artificial environment of peace, love, and happiness. I don't like fake.

Personally I love where South Park has been going with the whole PC Principal thing last season. Curious to see where it ends up.

There's a time and a place for always being PC (work and politics come to mind). If someone wants to continue it 24-7 that's great for them just leave me out of it. Chances are I won't offend you anyway. I've got friends from all walks of life. If you think just because I'm not PC that I walk around being a jerk and offending everyone that's an assumption you're allowed to make but it would be odd for people to be friends with me if I acted like that. I can not be PC and still be a nice, friendly, inoffensive guy. Just like you can be a good person without needing the Bible for a moral compass you can be a nice person without being PC :)

It gets tiresome and annoying catering to the lowest common denominator.
lowest common denominator:
The most basic, least sophisticated level of taste, sensibility, or opinion among a group of people.

You said with that statement that those people where the least among us but you don't "think less of any group of people"? How can you say you don't think any less of them right after saying you were tired of having the pander to them because they were the least of us? Maybe you don't think less of them and just picked poor wording. I can't say, I don't know you.

My grandfather once said, "I'm not a raciest but" then he went on to make a very raciest statement. In all honesty he really wasn't. He would work beside anyone and had many friends of all races/colors. He didn't go out of his way to treat anyone badly. Though due to how things were when her grew up he often had a lot of raciest views. He was a product of his time. He would be shocked at how much the world has changed in regards to race today. He would be surprised at a lot of changes to the world today. A lot of which I don't think he would see as a negative.

I did not say you go out of your way to attack or demean other people or make it a habit of insulting people. People throw out the PC complaint as much as people throw out the inequality complaint. My point is it doesn't take much to be kind or decent to others regardless of beliefs or ideals. I don't see being kind as pandering to anyone.

You would think that would not be such a difficult concept for people who love spiders to grasp, but it obviously is. Enlightenment and acceptance is not something that everyone can pull off, I'm afraid. Not everyone is capable of extending their accepting mindset to a larger audience and that is extremely disappointing. There are some people who 'get it' though and I will concentrate my time on them and not waste it anymore on those who don't.

Hey, look at what I caught my P.cam doing the other night. She was in the water dish pretty deep at one point. Unfortunately, they lighting was bad and this was the only one that kinda turned out.

I think that is their way of telling us that they need a pool, and sunglasses, and maybe a few drinks with little paper umbrellas in them. ;)
It's funny because that little tyke was out on the surface for a long time. Then, right after he took his swim, he disappeared into his elaborate tunnel system again. I really liked having him out and about and I'm a bit disappointed that he took to his burrow again.

My P.cam was doing chores. Dropped the trash off in the corner and then took a long drink (about 5 mins in the dish). The walked back inside her hide.
