Way back when I used to make enclosures, I had paper templates I could use as a guide for drilling air holes. I do not know what happened to them, though.

Can someone point me at some drilling templates?

Make a grid with MS Word or equivalent with the spacing of your choice and print it out?

Whatever your choice is, consider transferring it to cardboard for longevity once you have it dialed in. 16407351611878419899137579386650.jpg
Here's one of my templates I use for the pilot hole for my hole saw bits. Makes installing circular vents consistently a breeze and keeps the display shelves looking tidy.

Lol it does make for a nice clean look to the T room.

I still have some older enclosures I'm slowly cycling out plus I'll be getting another shelf or two here soon and getting rid of the old lizard enclosure.

LOVE that! Clean, organized, just bravo sir. There’s something distinctly Costco-ish about those shelves too, even if they’re not, that’s the vibe. I dig it.

I now use transfer tape for Cricut projects as a my drilling template. I had no idea what transfer tape was until my wife saw me drawing grids on masking tape and pointed me towards transfer tape. These are rolls of self-adhesive clear vinyl sheets with grids already printed on them; they allowed ventilation holes to be drilled in half inch grids. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Clearly you should be putting a nice reptile in that box.
Ohh there will be, but it won't be mine lol. I made that enclosure out of an old business display case when I was 18. It'll be going full circle here soon as I plan to give it to the original owner's daughter who has a beardie. When I get back into reptiles, I'll probably go with Animal Plastics enclosures. Neat, stackable, able to be flat packed for shipping/storage, customizable etc. Alright, enough derailing lol.

The templates I had before had the holes laid out in a circular pattern. It was pretty.
You need to chum up with someone who runs CAD programs. Crank out any design you care to name in seconds.

I use Adobe Illustrator to make appropriate vent hole designs/placement. I use it for work. Easy enough, but it's pricey if you don't have it already.

Download Libre Office Suite for free. Includes a better that MS Office suite of programs plus a draw program equivalent to Illustrator.
Then please consider donating to them. https://www.libreoffice.org/

Got a problem with Libre Office? They jump on it and really try to help. Stick that one where the Sun don't shine MS and Adobe.

Not at all! Just poking fun. I'm a professional illustrator and I've used Adobe Illustrator for years and years, so I've just developed a relationship with it that's hard to part. For me and work, it is the best thing out there for vector artwork.

I'm sure Libre is great! ☺

I did too. My ex being a commercial artist I did numerous layouts and graphics. When I tried out Libre Draw and Impress then discovered the powerful import and export engines then discovered Libre CAD... big middle finger to those money mongering corporate swine giants.
