Why not? Whats the problem with a communal enclosure?I already stated that I cant. Although I would like to.
I just picked up a crap ton of bark scorps... Parents are pretty P.Oed about me having 49 scorpions now, so They say I cant do the communal enclosure. They said I can only have one more. Stupid in my opinion, but I get to have 50 scorps totalWhy not? Whats the problem with a communal enclosure?
I was thinking of that, but I was wondering If I could do not very much substrate with alot of cover... That way he would still be able to hide, but if I needed to get him out I could just lift up the hide. You could set up a nice planted tank with good lighting and a lot of cool features. Throw in an emperor scorpion, and you have a little bit of the jungle.

I am pretty sure most bark scorps are communal, but I don't know scorps very well.
Yeah I know. Some of mine are set up communally, some aren't. Now I'm just looking for a large, active scorp, and wondering if an emperor could do well with not much substrate, and a lot of cover.I just picked up a crap ton of bark scorps... EDIT: I also have smaller cages to use, so If There is nothing real big that is real active, I have tanks ranging down to a .5 gallon. I would also be ok with something with non-life threatening venom that is pretty active and real unique. Just an all around awesome scorp.
eh, not too big a fan. Something that isn't one of the most commonly kept species.Hadrurus sp?
Heterometrus sp.?eh, not too big a fan. Something that isn't one of the most commonly kept species.
Are those active? I always thought those would be more like emperors... Anyway, I have something in mind that I was hoping you guys could help with... I really love the parabuthus look... They have always been one of my favorite animals. Are there any scorpions that look similar, without the extremely potent venom?Heterometrus sp.?
You could try Rhopalurus garridoi but they don't look that much like Parabuthus sp. and they are a bark scorpion. Are those active? I always thought those would be more like emperors... Ah. Well then. You are very lucky.I've got one already![]()
Yeah, the collection I got had a whole lot of other stuff that I really wish I could've picked up... But anything deadly is vetoed by parents :/ Thanks for all the help shredder, I know I'm being kinda impossible...Ah. Well then. You are very lucky.
so they roam alot? You should just get a Heterometrus swammerdami. Very cool, very big (bigger than emperors), pretty rare, and would make an awesome centerpiece display if you set it up right. It would look like a piece of habitat during the day, and at night the beast would roam looking for its next victim. Check out the link that another poster put up today in this forum.
Ok thanks... I'll think about them... do you know of any that look similar to the parabuthus, vith less venom? the thick tail look?I have had other Heterometrus, and they were out quite a bit more than the emperors that I have kept. That's not saying much, though. Most of the larger scorpions are pretty lazy as adults. Their movements are almost exclusively done at night (the only one I know that's active during daylight is Parabuthus villosus - largest buthid, but medically significant).
