Alright you guys. I think we're all ignoring the important question here-- who has the smallest spider?

Also where is @14pokies? I hear that guy always has a camera and ruler close by.

Maybe this will awaken some competetive spirits!
The largest documented spider, according to the Guiness world records website, had:
"leg span of 28 cm (11 in) and weighed 170 g".*
So, who's gonna trump this?:pompous:
Let the battle begin!!!
:vamp:

*They claim for it to have been a T. blondi, but I doubt anybody can confirm that. I do believe it must have been a Theraphosa though.

My adult female Cyriocosmus ritae must be up there. I've got house spiders that are bigger.

I keep checking back -- I know not to expect a 12" dinner plate size T -- but c'mon? No 9 or 10 inch tarantulas here? (sad sigh)
Ok guys, where are the big spider pics?

I don't have any seriously big spiders, not owning any Theraphosas and my ornatas are still juveniles.

My largest is my L. klugi at about 7.75" - I need to get her to walk over a ruler but she isn't really cooperating :sour:
Seriously! Let's see some photos!! :) None of my Ts are contenders, so I cannot contribute.

Hey, doesn't someone on here have a Pokie that is actually the size of a dinner plate? I cannot recall which user it is...maybe @Blue Jaye?

Here is the biggest tarantula I've personally ever owned. A P. cancerides.

I've got big hands for a woman so. Figured I'd add a reference.

Nowhere near the biggest tarantula, obviously, but if this thread is lacking pictures then I'll contribute this.

I just rehoused my big female T.stirmi, she's around 7" right now and is in pre molt. She's not my biggest spider, that would be my AF p.cancerides, she's massive and bulky. No way I can stick a ruler near her though, she strikes at me when I fill her water, pretty much as soon as she notices my presence. She's actually been refusing food lately but I haven't seen any clear pre molt signs yet. My large AF P.regalis is quite large as well, but much more leggy.

Here's the pics. In the second one you can see my 10"tongs behind my T.stirmi, for a bit of a size reference. I'll measure all their next molts.

Every time I see a big female pokie I want mine to grow up ASAP. So beautiful!
While I do enjoy my slings and juvie pokie. My adults are truly amazing!!! Especially Rasha. Even though she's huge she's not slow in any way when she decides to put a bit of speed on. She's super fast. You can even hear her feet when she's moving fast. She's so powerful!
For the most part she's pretty mellow but there are those times lol. She usually sits on her cork log like a stone and just lols her butt about. Never even budges when I go in he enclosure for clean up or water change. But the one time I was stupid and grabbed her water dish with my hand instead of tongs. She moved super quick and grabbed my hand. I in turn sat like a stone didn't even breathe lol. She felt around on my hand for a moment and went back to her log. I got so freaking lucky. Never get complacent you never know when they decided to check something out.

I would have had to change my pants after something like that, not going to lie. Perfect example of why it's important to never slack off in your routine, always be a stickler to the last detail.

Ahhh yay! My memory did indeed serve me right! :shy: I was going to feel like a dumbo if I'd accidentally tagged the wrong person, @Blue Jaye.

Gorgeous regalis!
