Touch them... by hand ? How about no ? Given how food motivated mine are, I'm not ever going to put my fingers near any of them, no matter how docile or lax they may be. It's a sure fire way to get a bite... which quite frankly, I'm not on the least interested in finding out how it feels like. Respect for your animals and using proper tools (long tongs, paintbrush, catch cup) goes a looooooong way !

My 0.02 cents.

Yes! All the time! I regularly put my hand into their enclosures and more often than not, my t’s will even run onto my open palm. It’s amazing the bond we have. I’ve gotten them trained to sit on top of my shoulder like parrots. We do synchronized hand movements (it took A LOT of reward based training, but man it was worth it). It’s weird though, they tend to curl up into a ball whenever I pull them out and hang out with them. It’s a trick I didn’t teach them, but kinda funny. And when I put them back, they’re always so exhausted with happiness at being played with that they go into their hides and sleep for a week.
Lol.that is awesome and i am in school now to become a Dog obedience trainer and am incorporating training techniques so i can train mine to walk on a leash so i can register it as a service tarantula.

Don't forget that they don't hear, so every instruction should be in sign language!!

Most definitely and the hand signals will be phase two of training but i am really looking forward to designing the harness with compartments so i can take it grocery shopping and help carry smaller items.

I wonder what goes through the mind of these people. Is a tarantula just like another toy for them, where it's existence is just to entertain its keeper? Those 'keepers' simply don't care if its a stressful experience for the animal or not. All they think about is if they will be cool on social media.
Belly rubs. What a joke. Sometimes i wish tarantulas were more venomous and more prone to bite like a Phoneutria is.
I wonder sometimes if people think before they provide dismissive and outright rude replies to genuine questions? No wonder members new to the forum choose to remain silent.

My response wasn't directed towards SpiderRider1996, but to the person that recorded the clip.
The question was "If i ever did that". I heavily implied that i did not, that i never will, and that nobody should, because its a stupid thing to do. If the person that recorded this clip ever reads this, they should reconsider keeping tarantulas.
The question of handling pops up thousands of times. And it will pop a thousand more times, my response will be the same, because i think what i believe in is the correct way. If a tarantula could talk, they would agree.

I agree that the person who made and elected to publish the video clip is an idiot and really should not be handling tarantulas let alone keep them. However, if one reads the question by SpiderRider1996, it was a genuine request for constructive opinion and not ridicule.

As i saw that they already recieved answers to their questions (And i dont think anybody ridiculed them), I decided to reply to the video as i was flabbergasted.
My reply further brought a discussion where we analyzed the video, without ridicule.
To be honest im always biased towards SpiderRider1996 since i love the Anime that their profile picture and username refers to, they are a person of culture

I touch and hold mine all the time. If I want the fuzzy leg experience just add a paint brush.

Here’s Wiener, my obt.
Wait. So. Just to confirm. You touch Wiener. Your Wiener specifically, because it would be weird to touch someone else's Wiener (not that anyone else would name their tarantula Wiener), but you're saying that you touch YOUR Wiener. How does that go for you? Is it an enjoyable experience?
Let it be known that I am DYING with laughter right now. You did this to yourself, Craig. And by "this" I mean mentioning the fact that you touch your tarantula, obviously. You had to have known it was coming, maybe even secretly hoping it would, because the opportunity is pure GOLD, Craig.

Didn’t think about that, maybe I should have used one of the other T’s in my virtual simulator. I plead the 5th.

@CerealMilk - If I ever have two obt’s that would be hillarious. This one is turning out to be suspect female. Got a good suggestion to re-name her Dawn Wiener.

Well seeing as how this is one of the most active forums I have ever been on, I am going to go out on a limb and say its not actually stopping all that many from posting.

There is no way you can go on any busy public forum and not have clashes on occasion. Life is not all pretty flowers and puppy dogs.

Use the ignore user feature any time you like, its free and just a click away.

I think that there should be a basic level of research done when the responsibility of somthings life is in your hands Tarantula or not. It is pretty simple to see that they are fragile and no matter what handling them is a gamble with their life. People are just having fun I don't think anyone really is that bent over it I mean if you can't take criticism then don't ask questions in forums lol 🤷‍♀️
