Hope you enjoy. lol!!

Edit: For people who don't understand what's going on and/or don't read the video description before they decide to flame me.

- No I was not antagonizing her. I was trying to get her into the jar.
- She was brand new I got her from a KINDERGARDEN asst., hence why I was using a long stick, and obviously for good reasons.
- The stick was in her face to turn her around, I started at her abdomen (Off cam) and she turned to bite it. As you can see later in the video, I tried again from the abdomen again and she turned around to bite again.
- I think the stick is completely harmless.
- Yes the tank is inappropriate. It came with her.
- I know all tarantulas make wonderful pets, I have quite a few.
- Tiny Tim freaking rocks okay? >8(

I hope that clears up any misunderstandings.

Yea Rosies make good pets... Let me come and move you around with a stick and see how well you take it.. That tarantula dont know if you are trying to eat her or not.. To me that just looks like she is trying to defend herself.. None of my 3 adults have ever did that.. None of my mothers 2 adults have ever done that.. My sisters aint never acted like that either... All of them have been held on a regular basis..

Yeah. That was me "Picking on the T" I was trying to guide her into the plastic jar, so I could redo her cage. I'm pretty glad I poked at her to begin with, because she was brand new and I didn't know her temperament. None of you guys can tell me you haven't done the same to yours.

No, intelligent hobbyists don't go poking their T in the face. You guide them gently with a brush to a rear leg or bottom. All you did was tick her off and didn't get an accurate gauge of her temperament at all.

I was thinking, "Oh hey, how interesting and perhaps informative, that Rosies are actually capable of aggressive behavior, here's something for the newbs to keep in mind." This T came from a kindergarden, really. :wall:

You know pretty much ANY animal is capable of aggression when cornered and provoked....

I don't think a paintbrush would have made much of a difference, only to give the impression that there is food, as can be seen by this person's video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPIy3t6BKT4&feature=related

Plenty of people use sticks, I'm sorry to offend, but it is nothing to get up in arms about.
They're right. If you were really trying to get the Rosie into a jar, you could have placed a Jar INFRONT of her and then LIGHTLY brushed her back legs.

There's no reason to ever put a stick in a T's face.

Edit:

Also, your enclosure is way too tall.. Doesn't have enough substrate in it, and the jar you're trying to move her into is.. not the best, seeing as she has to CLIMB up into it rather than walking directly into it.

You're right, I did come from the wrong angle. I'm sorry if that upset or offended some people, however I really wasn't having much luck either way, because any way I'd touch, she'd turn around and I'd meet her fangs.

I'm not upset or offended. Just giving you feedback. Try using a 32oz soda cup from like, Wendys or something, that you have cleaned out, with the plastic lid.. hold it infront of your T, and lightly brush their back legs with a paintbrush or even a plastic pen or something. Usually they will walk forward to avoid whatever is brushing their leg. It's much less likely to make them spin around and throw up a threat posture.. although they may try to kick hairs.

Also, when you re-do the enclosure, put a LOT of substrate in there.. There's too much room for your T to climb and fall, currently.

Petstores are idiots. Ask anyone on these boards. They'll sell you a 10g tank just to make the extra sale.

I have a MF A. Paysoni in a 5g critter keeper, filled up about 75% of the way with substrate.

It was actually a kindergarden assistant, who passed her off to me for free.

Same story. They probably didn't know any better. Also could explain why the T is aggressive. She may be overly stressed from constant prodding. Good luck with your new T, though.
