I feel you. Jill and I have the same problem with our addiction to T's. We see them and we want them. It is always a toss up buy the baby diapers or buy more spiders---we can always let the baby crawl around the yard to do his business=D

You know - for something that lives in a clear plastic container, and has very limited interaction with us -

WHY ARE THESE SPIDERS LIKE FREE-BASE CRACK?

more then likely nothing will ever happen...

but what if one of those farkers bites your kid under some strange circumstance...
then what are you going to do build a time machiene and go back in time and not buy them?

I WOULD not unless these species are under lock and key get them with small children in the house. stress on the I you do what you want.

I say, BUY BOTH!! They can be used as instructional materials to teach the twins about "hands-on" Ts and "hands-off" Ts. It's a lesson they have to learn ANYWAY.... why not start now... today... GET IN THE CAR!!:D

Don't do it ... kids will even reach places that seem unreachable to you ... So I guess they eventually will get curious about what mean spiders mom is having on that top shelf.. So I'm saying ... wait a little .. You have been waiting for months already, and it was not that bad, so why not wait another few months??

Dennis

ps. Don't do it :)

Ironic? No, more like MORONIC! You are just way too fast on the draw, I would have gone back and edited it, as you did yours, but you pointed out my imperfections too quickly. Not fair, I'm at work and have other things to do!!!!! Like sit here and wait for the SALES REP WHO IS TURNING IN HIS COPY 2 MINUTES BEFORE DEADLINE!!!

O.K., feeling better now!

My kids just call them "spidies."

Nix, ARE YOU AT THE PET STORE YET!!!=D

Hah nice to see you posting Nixy!!

Your kids seem smart and educated, make it clear (though don't over do it, else you'll give them the "dont-press-the-red-button-thats-situated-infront-of-you" syndrome)

Make it clear they arn't to fiddle with it, perhaps by them a spider at the same time to compensate and keep them occupied.

As a kid I had "forbidden tokay gecko" which nailed me pretty badly, due to the fact of it being nasty being over-stressed, causing curiousity to make me poke at it

wow have a coffee.

I cant beleive you are in good faith encourging her to purchase spiders that could send her little ones to the hopsital. I cant also believe that anyone would seriously have to make a decision over which is more important, feeding your greed for your hobby or your childs safety.
I know no matter how I say this it comes off as a judgement on your/her parenting skills but thats just plain foolish.

sigh go ahead and jump on me now... -

We've had this discussion. Different strokes for different folks. Nixy knows her children and is a VERY good mother. Whatever decision she makes will be the right one for HER and HER children. Maybe not good for Sue and Sue's children. Or Bob and Bob's children. But she's not making the decision for them.

=DI hope you are not going to proofread all my posts for spelling, I make ALOT of mistakes and you could end up blind!=D

(Note smilie: this is a non-judgemental post!)

Now, let's have fun and LEARN ABOUT Ts!!

When I got my first T, I was terrified that the thing might get out somehow, or my kids(teenagers) would mess with the tank and let it loose, so I bought the plastic screen lid, that locks, so it couldn't get out, and under that lid, I glued the little hole covers on, so you can"t open the little holes, then I was planning on making a strap system to go around the tank, up over the lid, and use a combination lock on it, so there was no way that thing could open unless you knew the combination. Then, I was afraid the tank could fall and break or something, so, to the strap system around the tank, I then anchored it to the wall with bolts, so even during an earthquake, the tank was not going anywhere,(unless the wall itself did. This would make feeding time difficult, but, we do what we got to do. My point is, I'm sure she could secure them. By the way, I did all this for a rosea! LOL!!!......and I don't do that anymore......although, now I have an usambara, might get the stuff out again!:D
