exactly how do you measure their intelligence in order to make such remark? We get plenty of them, not very smart and the webs are msesy but they kill all the other spiders ?
haha, don't worry about it! just sit back and learn! there's lots to get from here.jeez im not doign very well on this forum so far :?.
Just buy a large display container and drill a hole large enough for a cork to fit into. If you want to get fancy you can make a sliding lid.. all of the tools you need are at Michals just ask one of the workers and they will be more than glad to help you.Cellar spiders are one of my favorites. I used to keep a few of them as pets. I even bred them once, but the babies all escaped because I didn't have it completely sealed.
I used to play with them at work sometimes, when i used to work in pet stores- they liked to live in the stacks of aquariums, and every so often i'd come across a sac that just hatched, the babies were so cute!
One day I plan on trying a large semi-communal setup (they will cannibalize each other, but if I provide enough space, and enough hiding places, I think I can minimize that, as they don't move around a whole lot, so they wouldn't interfere with one another) with the marbled ones (different species, they are prettier IMO). I just haven't come across a suitable container, as I'd need something that I could open to toss food in without disrupting their webs too much, and it would have to be otherwise sealed pretty well.
They are reported to eat other spiders, and I've observed them eating P. tepidariorum. We get plenty of them, not very smart and the webs are msesy but they kill all the other spiders ?
