controversial question, would you eat a tarantula?

If you go through the kernels of canned corn, you can usually manage to find two or three european corn borers which are caterpillars that attack corn plants.

Things that make you go hmmmmm. Now you got my wanting to search a can of corn just to see if I can find any.
Recently I found out for grain products the FDA allows like 9% insects to be in the finished product. Chex mix, look at it close, you actually can see bug legs. {D Brings a whole new meaning to getting your fiber!

Corn borers are nearly impossible to seperate from corn, so...yeah.

I haven't actually tried this, but I do occasionally find a corn borer floating loose in corn I have for dinner every so often.

I also have found live corn borers in ears of corn at Wal*Mart.

Since I live in Iowa, corn is embarrasingly cheap...16 cents per ear is about the most expensive it gets so I tend to eat a lot of corn. It's actually cheaper than ramen sometimes.

If you think that's interesting, check out my estimates for the number of mice killed by farmers every year. ;)

What I really like about the western world is that on a whole I would imagine that we are the bigest consumers of meat, yet to see any images on where the meat comes from and how we go about getting the meat is a total no no for some people. Personly I think that every school kid should be made to visit a slaughter house to see the way Daisy the cow turns into a Mc Donalds big Mc (ok abit hard to do considering there is no meat at Mc Donalds and just rubber.......A joke before Mc Donalds comes to sue my arse lol) just to show a bit of the reality of life.
We should also require them to pull a deer from a combine. Also, we should make them watch mice bleed to death from the inside out (the result of a warfarin overdose), to show the true nature of the farming business.

Everyone here is very familiar with how meat is made, but that doesn't mean they want to see how it's made.

Seriously...that's just like saying that every little girl who carts around a plastic baby should be made to watch pornographic movies.

Your line of logic needs no further dissection.

No we tried to find a place that served them when I was traveling in the Marines, but we had a language barrier and failed to find a place. I still want to see what the hype is about.
Balot is not as bad as some people think. I guess the looks of the baby duck is what turn people off. Its gross if you think about it I guess, even my girl wont eat it.

Anyway, its made out of 3 parts. The yoke is the most delicious IMO, same as a hard boiled egg, but a bit on the wetter side, and more tasty.

There is a hard part at the bottom. Tastes a bit bland but its ok.

The chick itself depends on the age. There is 14 days, 16 and 18 if I remember correctly. I just order 14 days old... too soft, you cant feel the bones or anything. Just like eating meat. 18 days old is just too big and I cant look at it. lol. Last time I ate one was when I was a kid... as of the taste, just a little salty type of meat.

And oh, the water inside tastes good actually. And if you get to eat one, eat it with salt, and while its a bit hot!

Unfortunately I can't just type in a one word answer which would be NO. Even if I didn't keep pet T's, I'm not into eating bugs.
