Considering getting a centipede

I've been keeping tarantulas for a little over year now and have always had an interest in centipedes and I'm considering getting one. I'm mainly interested in ethmostigmus rubripes, scolopendra sp mint legs and scolopendra polymorpha. I've done some reading here and it seems the polymorpha would be the best to start with for me but im really not sure about the care for a centipede compared to tarantulas and i'm not sure about what kind of enclosure and setup to use for a centipede I'd prefer glass or acrylic enclosure like a tarantulacribs enclosure and was looking for info and suggestions

I don't keep any centipedes, but I personally wouldn't put one in a tarantulacribs enclosure. I have a few and they're nice, but I'd be worried that a centipede could get out as I've heard they're escape artists. I don't know that it matters that much as long as there's good ventilation and a secure lid though.

Ethmostigmus rubripes is an awesome species! I would be careful with the tarantula crib enclosures, as a centipede may be able to escape from those. aa far as I can see, they are secured by magnets, which a centipede could escape from. Something that would be more secure would be something like Tupperware clip containers, I've never had an escape from them.

I don't keep any centipedes, but I personally wouldn't put one in a tarantulacribs enclosure. I have a few and they're nice, but I'd be worried that a centipede could get out as I've heard they're escape artists. Ya i was worried about them escaping that's the main thing im looking for in a enclosure is it being escape proof and good looking I'd prefer a glass or acrylic enclosure but i see a lot of people use tupperware containers and I've gotten a suggestion for it too so might go with that but it's not preference. I wonder if jamiestarantulas enclosures would be any good for centipede

I never kept a centipede, but Petco from "dark den" kept one, it was a funny yet informative video in my opinion, I know they can climb higher than you think Lol

Ya the rubripes is a beautiful species and I've read they aren't bad for beginners I've also seen is there quite a bit of variation in the colors on them too I've seen some that are dark green with blue legs (the one i love) and some that tiger colors or black with blue and orange legs, but i haven't seen any for sale I've seen blue tiger and sp large form aqua polymorpha though and scolopendra aztecorum not sure of what places to look for when buying centipedes though. Those are pretty good! I think you could keep a centipede in one of those without too many issues. If you use the terrestrial enclosure with a lot of substrate, it should work out. as to where people in the United States buy centipedes, I have no idea.

Take it from someone who unwisely got a S. Dehaani as their first large centipede; avoid any species from tropical climates as a starter centipede. get a rubripes or polymorpha.

E. Rubripes are Australian giant centipedes. Australia does not allow any import or export. Polymorpha would be a good choice.

I highly suggest getting a tall enclosure so they can't climb out. Centipedes have very good grip power and they will climb anything they can grip on to try and escape. I highly suggest an enclosure that has a lock-lid and the reason why is because any large centipede is strong and can escape almost any enclosure that doesn't have a lock lid.

S. polymorpha and S. longipes are my choice for beginner centipedes.

I got my first centipede today it's scolopendra polymorpha sp large form aqua, i got a scorpion too. PS don't mind the dirt i had just setup two enclosures.

Just coco fiber substrate tarantulas and inverts it's all i had ATM

that shouldn't be too bad, just make sure it's deep enough for burrowing.
