ventral and apparent maturity combined with size. I would think a male would probably molt ultimate by the time it got that big, But then photos are tricky.
molt will tell for sure

I have a 1.75 or 2 inch c darlingi and it has a little black stub now . I was wondering if this means it will be a male or if it will continue to grow because i know males have stubs all their life. Thanks :? i will post a pic when i get a chance.

I seriously can't get my marshalli out of her enclosure for pics... she will attack with the slightest disturbance and wont calm down... how do I get her out without being bit and without hurting the little bunch of anger?
