There is an intact feral male that's been marking around my apartment for years.
I know I just thought maybe if the feral male hasn't been and your boy is still spraying maybe he has gone ott because your boy can smell a lady cat too. Was just a random thought.

There was a female that was roaming for a while in the area but she has not been present for a couple of months now. I believe she was fixed though. Her "owners" finally moved. They really just didn't care one bit that she was wandering so far from their temporary housing and was at risk from cars, bobcats, bears, other cats, diseases, ticks, raccoons, poison, you name it.

This was her. She's a Bombay. 20241005_154347.jpg

The male is most definitely feral. Well fed by someone, but not tame in the least. This is the closest I could get to him before he ran in fear, keeping in mind my phone was zoomed way in. He was clear across that parking lot. You can see in his eyes and behavior he's feral and not just "skittish." My security cameras have seen him marking all around my apartment. Isn't that lovely?

That feral is probably head cat in the area if he can smell your boy he will respond by peeing up your door and anywhere else he can reach.

I stick by my original thought's your boy is now a mm so where as before the stray didn't bother him now he does because he is a mm so he is senting your home so the other male knows its his home not the strays. Just get to Tues try n give him as much attention as you can and try to keep him occupied it will help with the marking. If he is 100% occupied he will mark less.

With a feral cat in the neighborhood you basically have an insurmountable problem.
I've observed feral cats, one of which demonstrated the problem. Working it's way up our street in automatic mode tagging as it went on both sides of the road. And again here, a feral that would drive our cats nuts, all three neutered or spayed.
The solution is really as much of a problem. In the first instance the coyotes started making a run through our area. No more cat visits. Here, were have about 6 dogs free roaming the area at night. Again, the cat took it's business elsewhere.
Superior predators displace inferior ones.
On a positive note, our elderly extremely laid back placid cat surprised us when we noticed she started peeing in the toilet. She didn't want to have anything to do with the territory game.

Problem is it usually happens at night when I'm trying to sleep.

So take him to bed with you 🤷🏻‍♀️ Have a massive play session with him before bed time tier him out, if he is tiered and sleeping he isn't peeing in the house . It may be a pain in the ... but it will only be for 1 night , my cats love boxes n string. I make them forts out of the scamazon boxes seen as they insist on sending lots, bit of jute string n they are away and they always sleep for ages after. It's the cat equivalent of taking kids to the park 😊 I assume he likes to play, I haven't met a cat that doesn't just gotta find the right toy.

Interesting did she do it of her own accord? I have heard of cats using the toilet rather then litter tray but usually they have been trained with one of those litter trays that goes in the toilet.

We tried various things and failed. Gave up. Then a few months later there she was balanced on the toilet seat. She even came inside once after one of her escapes and headed straight for the bathroom. But she was an unusual cat. Allow her on our bed she would sleep there for 12-14 hours straight. Wasn't particularly friendly either. It was like we coexisted. No interest in getting petted or cuddled. Just tolerated chance affection when it happened.

Some cats are just like that, the young female dumped on us is like that she's called Luna-Tick and her name suits her down to the ground, she wants nothing todo with cuddles at all and even to play with her I have to wear gauntlets because she likes to try n pull my skin off, but she was unsocialised before she came here, had lived in a garden since 5 weeks old with a family that would make Jerry Springer blush. She is getting better she understands ouch now and let's go and will come and sit on me but I can't touch her while she's there yet. "Kill it" is definitely her favourite though 😆.

I have often thought of getting one of those trays for the toilet the only thing that puts me off is having to remove it every time I need the loo though 😂. Really cool your little lady chose to use the loo without one though. Smart kitty, get one like that every now n then don't you, if the ppl can I can 😆.
I used to have a tom called Thierry and he used to like to come in the shower with me bath too and although he never got in my bath thankfully he would just sit on the side asking for cuddles, he loved getting in the shower with me .
He could open doors too, they had to be locked to stop him just letting himself out, which I wouldn't of minded so much if he would shut them behind him but he would just leave my front and bk door open after he left 😆.
Never peed in the toilet though 😂

Sounds like yours and ours were cut from the same cloth. Ours was called Seecow, see means all, cow means white. We were fortunate that were got her as a kitten that accepted large bipeds as part of her home. Never aggressive but the only time she was sociable was when she had feet on the bed to snuggle up to.

My girl does that 😆 I often wake up in the night and she's in-between my feet all curled up 😂, sounds like if my poor girl had been treated better from the get go she could of been as chilled as your Seecow 😊

I have 4 cats that share my home atm 2 boys 2 girls and I didn't get any of them, they were either abandoned or in the case of 1 tom came from the ferals that live on the train tracks out the bk. I actually said no more a few years bk after I lost my Earl to a hit n run but they have just showed up over the past few years and I can't say no to a cat in need 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Tried all those things. The power of the hormones supercedes everything. He could be sound asleep and then up a half hour later.

Counting down now.

What has made this whole thing so much worse is that there has been a lot of other things happening simultaneously that this has compounded on top of.

Thanks everyone that has helped in any way on this thread. I realize it may seem repetitive or that I am just saying the same things over and over but it's the human need to seek togetherness in times of stress.

I am looking forward to this chapter ending and a new positive one beginning. That starts tomorrow at 8:00 (appointment time). It will be the chapter that begins having an actual pet instead of a constant stress factor in my life. I am looking forward to it.

Don't worry your not repetitive at all, this has clearly upset you so we wanted to help and sometimes I think even just having someone answer you helps, even if what they suggested didn't help, its just being heard.

Yous will get there tomorrow is a new day and a new start, it will hopefully get better from now my friend and all this mess will become a distant memory 😊
Got everything crossed 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

He's home
Stumbling around like a drunkard. The next 7 days he's gotta be given pain meds orally.

At the moment he's "loafing" in the litterbox.

The new chapter begins now! :]
