Woman, actually. ;)

I have no idea whether Chuck is male or female. He's probably close to an adult, if he's not already--if I'm picturing him correctly, his legspan is probably about 3-4 inches.

I'm certainly not against the idea of getting more! Though I'd like to first move into an apartment with a little more space for them. I first have to convince the bf that Ts are really cool, though. ;)

Whoah dave, slow down buddy. That's a rib back at Phil, obviously. Seriously, if you aren't going to continue a debate on the boards, best not to rib anyone any more, right? What's even more important is that nobody gives anyone too much stick when they ask newbie q's, that's part of the wonder of this board, please don't compromise that for the sake of a quick stab at Phil, you may deter other newbies from posting and learning from some of your vast exprience.

I don't mean to come down on you, we are all hobbyists of one form or another, right?

And for Skadi, I kinda dig being called a tarantula knowledge whore, cool.........I feel cheap and used, oh the humanity.....LOL

Hey Steve

Its def not a "rib" at philip -- its true, is it not?!! Just like any other part of life, some people will come down hard on you for asking "stupid" questions. I don't mind answering the "t on the back is it dead" question over and over, because we're all new at one point. hell, i still am! Some people, on the other hand, I hear complain about that crap -- not just phillip, believe it or not. I've said almost that same thing on this list, even before i started talking to phillip . And i don't have ESP ;P If there's one thing you should take up from my posts its that i'm not down with saying stupid stuff about other people on the boards...

i'm not on here to make enemies (believe it or not :) ), and i haven't (well i can think of one or 2 people i dont see eye-to-eye with, but hey, you can't win em all, right?)

believe me or not, its up to you, i suppose. I'll tell you this much, since you don't know me, and I think MrT (? Mr I?) said it best, you'll know when i'm giving you hell. Usually i even spell it out. I don't do those litte jabs. If you still think it is, I'd be more than happy to talk over PM or email or IM and we can talk further about it all (seriously!)

As for T's -- i def don't have "vast" experience in T's, but if you think so, then i take it as a complement, and thats cool! :) I'm def still learning everything I can, much like most of us. Some of us aren't looking to learn everything, and thats cool (again, not a "rib" at anyone!!! Its general.. some people DON'T want to learn any more and WILL ride newbies)

i dont shake with one hand and punch with the other.

I did look into what i could find, and i haven't found anything on T's "chirping", but i haven't searched through everything yet, so if anyone else was bored and had nothing to do..

and what do you mean by "chirp" -- that can be taken a lot of different ways.

It's cool Dave, it's just that your remark about newbies sometimes getting stick for posting was a bit strange to me, I've never seen it before here. It happens I'm sure, but those posts are so rare that it hardly is worth mention on this forum. That's exactly what struck me as 'strange'.

Blaaahh, what do I know, I'm just a T info whore.

I'm not exactly sure what my prof meant by "chirp," either, but since he was talking about the whole "baby chicken" thing, I'm guessing it's kind of like chicks' cheeping. That's the best I can do for the moment! :)

Its cool, i still can't find anything on T's chirping, but like i said, who knows if there's some odd unknown species that can make some odd noises..

look at what we thought about deep undersea vents, and then we found out there's tons of life in them..

to answer it, i don't know... someone who's done some studies down there may know, and even if not, there are alot of T's still undiscovered, so who knows.. there may be some crazy chirping-morph T :)

but i really don't know, so...
go figure :)

welcome again!
what Ts do you have (if any?)

Dave,

I'm going to be as forthcoming as I possibly can... I think that if you and I met in a bar somewhere where there were no smileys (or lack thereof), no plain, emotionless text, and no language barrier, that we would probably end up BSing half the night away. We certainly do appreciate the fact that you're here and participating. That being said, I am consistently annoyed by the fact that anytime you have a disagreement with anyone, you invariably end up saying at some point in the conversation, "it's ok, person xyz, don't feel bad.... everyone makes mistakes." THAT is why people are getting irritated with you... anytime you tell someone "it's ok, we all make mistakes" you put the burden of guilt on THEM in the interaction. Call it easy misunderstanding or call it unnecessary complexty of the English language. That is what people are getting tired of.

Now, the topic is whether or not T's hiss... any posts continuing the rant will be deleted. Any posts referencing this post to agree, disagree, or chime in will also be deleted.

Please continue... *sigh*

I've read that T's do make noise, I have
yet to hear one of mine do it:)
They just sit there, or move dirt, or eat, nothing fancy.
Just normal T behavior, if you want to call T's normal:)

The only "HISS" I've ever heard is our Ball python.
I went in one day to change her water and touched her
by accident:eek:, boy was she pi$$ed! She let out the wildest
sound I've ever heard!
