I'm sort of ripping off the "Guess the Pokie species" thread idea. It's kind of fun though. Besides, this will probably be too easy for a lot of folks.

Oh, it's very freshly molted in these pics too.

While we're at it, I'll throw a pic of a different species than the one in the pics above. Easy guess. This one is giving up the answer right to ya!

I'd say the first one is a P.smithi. The one in the threat posture is a P.regalis.

Boy oh boy I wish the first was P. smithi! :)

Ok, Leiurus and Andrew vV (and Manville's random guess ;)) are on the money on the first species, P. rufilata.
The second species is (other than too easy) P. regalis.

Take care

I take it by your response that P.smithis are either expensive and/or rare?

Absolutely rare. There likely may be a few more in European collections than here in the States but you'd have an easier time getting ahold of 5 P. metallica than to find just one P. smithi. If somehow one did manage just to find one, good luck getting the owner to give it up.
As far as expensive, I know one would be pricey, how pricey one can only guess. That would be a case of "seller's market" through and through. Since I have never even seen P. smithi on a for sale list I cringe at what possible dollar amount may follow those coveted words. ;)

Take care.

Hmmmmm, not bad, not bad. Let us know if you do get slings. I know I wont be able to afford one but it'll be interesting to see a price.

Btw, you can attach more than one pics in one post.

Heres a second dorsal shot.
Absolutely stunning Arachnoking! No amount of money would take her off my hands if she were mine either. ;)
Best of luck on a successful hatchout!
Is that burgundy tinge on the foreward part of her abdomen visible only in pics or is it always that apparent?
Any idea on other captive breeding efforts/possible sacs etc. of that species over there?

Take care.

Yes that burgundy colour is just a visible if not more so in the flesh. they are very nice Ts but ive found them to be quite a lot more defensive than most of the Poecilotheria sp. not cheap either although i think i got a bargain with her. I paid £90. Not sure how that converts into dollars ect..

Ive had her almost a year now. :)
