Thx!
I got the juvenile galeodes from egypt several days ago, it hasn't began to eat yet and it is not active after digging a small hole. I've asked other people who also got the galeodes at the same time as me, theirs also don't eat. I think these solifuges
have already entered the dominant period. What I really worried is whether it can molt
successfully(lol)
If they are not eating, I think they will eventually start molting as long as they are kept dry and at a temperature of 86℉ to 95℉.

Thank you! I'm going to adopt soon, so I'll ask you one more question! How high should I stack the flooring? And I want to know what kind of soil you use

I keep solifugae without letting them dig, so I spread about 1 cm to 2 cm of substrate.
For Rhagodes, I use fine akadamatsuchi(red ball earth).
For Galeodes and Paragaleodes, I use fine silica sand.

It does not appear to be an adult male.
Individuals without white heads at this time of year are often adult females and are often pregnant.

Rhagodes come as adults in a variety of sizes.
Some are as large as 6-7 cm when full, while smaller ones reach adulthood at 3 cm.

A camel spider has arrived today I have one more question I wonder if there's any other way to distinguish a mature female than to rub her belly:rolleyes:

The camel spider that I brought this time got mad when I rubbed its belly:bigtears:

Those that stretch their bellies and become docile when tickled are most likely adult females, but even adults may not do so, depending on the individual and the day.
I do not know of any other way to identify them.

I see... Camel spiders are really tricky because they don't have much information known:sad:
So how many times does a camel spider shed before it becomes a mature adult? And I'm using an electric pad to maintain the temperature, is that a good way??:embarrassed:

Mostly, the final age is around 8th instar, but may grow up to 12th instar.
It is safe to keep the temperature around 30°C (86°F).

Thank you very much for your continued response. Then, is there no problem using an electric pad that heats the floor directly??

A temperature that can be set is desirable.
Since the temperature may be higher than the set temperature, it is necessary to measure the temperature while rearing the solifugae.

hi, lovely thread and I’ve been following this for some time. How do you maintain humidity in the egg laying chamber for the rhagodes and the galeodes? Do you keep the substrate/sand wet, or do you leave it dry and keep the ventilation mesh wet?

Eggs of rhagodes should be slightly moistened in the egg chamber, as they will become concave if completely dry.

When rhagodes are allowed to lay eggs in a small case,
Place a moistened tissue on the mesh.
If the eggs are laid in soil, mist the soil from time to time.
In any case, the humidity in the egg chamber is a little high, though,
It is important that the soil touching the eggs is dry.

Galeodes do not have any problem with dryness, but after they lay their eggs, they hatch faster if there is just a little bit of humidity. Hatching occurs with just a breath of air.
When molting into the 2nd instar, placing a small moistened tissue in the rearing container will prevent molting failure.
Molt after the 2nd instar can be done in a dry state.
